  1. Hi Frank Let's hope that you come out of all of this in better shape than you went in. I've never had an epidural, but I have had a cortisone injection, which wasn't a lot of fun, either. I hope all works out ok! Cheers Patrick
  2. Hi Ioannis Nice job on your cutter and it looks like you're well in your way to launch day! Did you make the cannon as well? Cheers Patrick
  3. Hi Igor Nice!!! Another micro marvel coming out from your shipyard. Look forward to following along. Cheers Patrick
  4. Yep! Can't argue with Jesse there, because those cannons are real beauties!
  5. Hi Nils Thanks. Hopefully, you're right about giving the glue joints time to settle back. I have my finger's crossed for you and hope that you will not need to re-sand too much of the hull. All the best! Cheers Patrick
  6. Hi Nils Now that you've cut the hull sides, as per necessary, to create the bulwarks, it's all starting to make sense now. I must've been a bit thick, but I couldn't quite understand why your hull plating had to be put on hold until the decks were laid out. Now, of course, it all makes sense! Definitely one of those 'lightbulb' moments for me. Having said that, wow, she looks good. The bulwarks and the figurines add a tantalising glimpse of what the completed ship's going to look like. Nice! Cheers Patrick
  7. Hi Frank The dragon or serpent sounds like a nice touch and would also serve to highlight your carving skills. Sorry to hear about your health issues, as well. I hope all goes well with the epidural and treatment tomorrow. Take care and I'll look forward to your next post, once you're back on deck! Cheers Patrick
  8. Hi Frank Paragon's looking brilliant, which leads me to wonder how you may intend to display her? For instance, will you draw the link from your ship to the book that inspired the model? Maybe a passage or two from the book perhaps, which gives meaning to the ship? Just curious. Cheers Patrick
  9. I think we're always our own worst critics. However, I wish, truly wish I had all the skills I needed. For instance, me and metal work just don't seem to mix. But for you, it just seems like second nature! Me envious? Damn right! But, always willing to learn and improve!
  10. Hi Igor Ok. Now, I'm shaking my head in envy and amazement! Cheers Patrick
  11. Igor!!!! You've done it again. That miniature binnacle looks just brilliant!
  12. Hi Igor Nice work on the cabins. I'm still mystified how you're going to get the main deck with all the tall deckhouses through the bottle's opening. Are the cabin's going to be positioned individually after the hull's fully installed? Cheers patrick
  13. Hi everyone I've just done a bit more work on the deck furniture, including the sliding companionway hatches (i.e. the one at the rear that leads down into the owner's stateroom and the main one which leads down into the main saloon. Below decks, in the owner's stateroom, I did the double mattress and striped cushions on the settee. I hope you enjoy the photos. Cheers Patrick
  14. ...I was wondering who was going to be the first with the wise cracks over that photo.... Made me shudder too.
  15. Hi Frank Your Paragon's looking better and better all the time. It looks like you're making a great start on the rigging. But, those barrels are brilliant. You just made a fiddly component look simple. Nice! Cheers Patrick
  16. Hi Nigel I concur with everyone's comments about the windows. Really, really nice work! Cheers Patrick
  17. Hi Ben Sorry to hear about the problem's you're having, but I'm sure you'll get it all fixed. After that, it's rowing time! Cheers Patrick
  18. Hi Mike All the best for a great vacation! Look forward to your next post when you get back. Cheers Patrick
  19. Hi Timmo She's coming together beautifully! Great job on the framing and planking. Cheers Patrick
  20. Hi Ken I think I can just make out a spare spot in the front row for me to peek from. I hope you don't mind! Cheers Patrick
  21. Hi Denis I'm always amazed when I see your updates. I think a lot of the skill you're bringing into this build, is your ability to paint and finish off details so cleanly and precisely. If it was me, I'd probably drown the item in paint, thereby smothering the subtle details of each item. So, there're some good lessons for me to learn from your build log. Also, when you say that the 'next phase draws near'...yep, definitely looking forward to that one! Cheers Patrick
