That really looks the part - figures are not the easiest things to do a good job of, he looks splendid.

Great work coming along here - just cant beat these simulated brick builds - by the way is that Prussian Blue I see in your paints behind - how do you find it regarding its Flat Matt finish?

Very droll OC 🤪
My youngest daughter has been informed and sent a link to an airbrush 🤭and it appears one could be coming from Santa for me this year
Yep, with Mike's skills I would say it's a forgone conclusion that there will be a Landlubber armour kit coming very soon 🤣
Sorry mate - my sense of humour,🙃
I too have looked into sprayers but have fell back on rattle cans as my most convenient medium for spraying for me. however brush painting can still produce some amazing results.

That is looking rather nice Kevin - I think if it was me building her I would be trying to super detail her also.

Well here is the input from another low on oil coal fired individual for what it is worth.
Like I said I have only been on a S***hook twice and I even find some of my memories about Huey's in question these days. But if memory serves, the side round windows were fixed, like you would find in any modern airliner these days. They were not even removable for emergency exit like the non opening door windows, (And pilot doors) on a Huey. To be honest I doubt the porthole windows were large enough to allow a body to fit through anyway. This memory is further enhanced by the fact that in US Army rotary wing aircraft it was a practice that any emergency exit was surrounded by a thin yellow or yellow/black striped band with a red arrow pointing to the release handle if so equipped.
That is not to say that like Mark said many aircraft were modified to carry ordinance that was field installed and removing windows for this equipment was quite common in Vietnam. This of course would probably not apply to a RAF version.
Like I said, with things and time being what they are, I lay no claim to the above being gospel. Almost anything is possible with the age of this aircraft.
Thank you for your imput Lou, always welcomed and appreciated.👍

Well, I'm just happy OC got the glass sorted out and isn't abandoning the build. It does seem like everything in the bod and mind is creaking lately. Maybe I"m low on oil?
You still on oil mate? I have had a conversion part fuel part static - mind you the later is from me dragging my slippers on the floor as I walk.

Welcome one and all, Mike, if I was you I'd just give in to the force! Watching Craig's car builds is sorely tempting me to spend, spend, spend. At least then I could justify an airbrush 😆🤫
You could always get a model of an airbrush to start with - then get an airbrush to paint the model airbrush - "Gonna stop there - just getting too weird"😁

I'm in for this one too! Though, I might have one eye closed. I started with plastic ships and told me that was the end of plastic for me. Then I started on planes, and said no way will I buy car kits. Well after a bunch of car kits in the stash, I have been saying no armor kits! With your skills, I'll be sorely tempted to break yet another vow!
You know you can't resist Mike - neither of us can.

I just did a quick check on-line.... only the forward "square" windows were removed. I didn't see any with the rear round ones removed. Sorry about that. I'll recheck my memory bank and clear the faults. It's a pain to be old.
No worries mate.

Look around the outside of the fuselage, OC, for "cut marks". Some of those windows were removable for installing guns. In 'Nam, many types of choppers did have windows removed just for ventilation and also to provide a "quick exit" if needed. I'd think the forward ones behind the cockpit and rear most on each side. If the have those marks, trim the window opening to the line and Bob's your uncle.
Thanks Mark, I wonderd that - even went searching for modified chinooks RAF ones in the field, but all had the windows intact, I dont know it these windows could be opened or are fixed in place.

Good news! Fingers crossed that it works!
Not sure if this would be helpful, but there are those wax sticky pencils that have just enough tack to lift a part and put it in position, and just enough to release the part when it's time to glue.
Thats a good heads up Mike thank you, and thank you for the good wishes.

Thanks Lou.

I think I may have rescued it................I dragged it out of the cupboard and remembered I had some fine wire I used to use for dabbing on ca glue, anyway as the Inner section is only joined to teh outer on one side, I was able to push the wire through and push the windows back into place, then run some poly around the outside frame - it wasn't the most ideal but I have some masks and will see if I can cut them a mil or so smaller to allow paint to cover any glue around the edges of the glass, its going to be rattle can primed then colour coat painted anyway, so that combination might cover my errors.

Are the windows small enough to use some of that Kristal Klear window maker? I think you can also use canopy cement for that also - pretty much the same stuff. Seems a shame to bin the whole kit for a window problem.
Mark
Hi Mark, trouble is I only have whats to hand and thats only revell poly.

I shall jump straight back into this tomorrow and do some more KGL infantry, trying to get my head round if I can change the stance of a few of them, as a few (well more than a few) were lying on the slanted roofs, and there are no figures in that stance in my stash - will have to see what I can do.
