  1. HI all, I had a battle on today - trying to manipulate the engine/undercarriage nacelle to fit the wing (its a notorious bad fit) I had to dry fit - dry fit - dry fit etc etc etc and file/sand away till I managed to get it to fit requiring just the smallest amount of filling. Firstly I glued the front end and aided by the hairdryer and some gentle pressure it glued down, then I pushed down the back end and secured with a seam of fine glue. The idea with the hairdryer is to make the glue mimick a heat gun by where the glue sets quicker by being hot, and cools quickly as set. OC.
  2. Count me in - I too have done some Armour in the past from 1/72 diorama's to Tamiya 1/35 scale tanks etc. OC.
  3. I know as much knowledge about Airbrushes as I do Knitting - never ever picked one up or used one, it took me fifty odd years to even use a Rattle can, everything else till now has been painted using brushes including 1/144 scale airliner kits like B747s. OC.
  4. Are these any good for starters? - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Voilamart-Airbrush-Compressor-Air-Brush-Kit-Dual-Action-Spray-Gun-0-3mm-Art-Set/223281100295?hash=item33fc973607:g:YaEAAOSwf71dNU-g OC.
  5. I have been looking at Airbrush starter kits but how convenient are they to use in a living room - noise etc? OC.
  6. Good day all, more work on mossie, - I assembled the other wing starting by fitting the flaps together, at the same time I painted and placed the wing radiator in place, then after cleaning the seams up - the wing was joined together with the flaps trapped inside. I also cleaned up and painted both engine nacelles. OC.
  7. Not your fault bro, no need to stand in the corner - take a seat on the hammock instead, OC.
  8. Very similar 707/DC8 esp if they were the short body DC8 later on they lengthen'd them to near 180feet, the 707 was still a heavy-er plane though compared to the shorter DC8. OC.
  9. The 707 never was renowned for its power to weight ratio - quite a heavy beast for its size and engines the JT's were not all that powerful think they needed at least 5000ft hot and heavy min runway for take off. OC.
  10. I havn't done a lot to day - made up the stabs and cleaned up the seams - that's it. OC.
  11. Makes you wonder if newer models with newer glues/paints etc will last longer. OC.
  12. Its not the quality that matters lou - its the content and memories. OC.
  13. Did that have an outside framework for the guns on them or just hand held inside the cab? OC.
  14. We try our best though mate - laughter and good banter is a good remedy and I cant think of a better place than here, OC.
  15. Hey, im still growing up - at heart 25, in body feel about 80 actual age not telling lol. OC.
  16. Plan for latter today - make up the other wing/nacelle assembly, then clean up the seams same as the other one, then couple of coats of primer (good tip to kill dust specs - use some tape to act as a tack rag) then the grey paint over the top, set to dry then mask up ready for the green paint. OC.
  17. We just have the one room with a back and front door leading off it, my work table is also in it, so any paint smells circulate around the room, no were else to build. OC.
  18. Thank you so much craig, Its very much a feeling my way as I go kind of thing, those tamiya rattle cans for model aircraft do seems very good and leave a very nice finish. OC.
  19. Will be interesting to see how the green/grey turns out, the main issue seems to be getting enough contact to stop the paint creeping, but not too much so it lifts the paint or leaves marks on the paintwork. OC.
  20. Yep thats - typing paper cut into close enough shapes, Blue tack to get a softer edge, and red painters semi low tack tape, Its a Celebration friends - My First masking job. OC.
