A bit more progress today - the captain of the ship decided to have some 3/2inch plating put in place at the top of the ladders leading from the weather deck up the bulwarks, this is to strengthen the top of the ladders. Also I fitted one of the reels and constructed two boxes on the main deck. Just the one pic. OC.

A bit more work today - I painted the davit wires black, then the floats recieved a coat or two of med grey and the inside wood boards a yellow - ish color, next I decided to tackle the part I was dreading The Ladders (imput freightened emoticoon here) the two on rear bulwark inlcude fiddly top plate sections, upon cutting these out on some stiff board, the top plate hand rail broke off, but no worries I was still able to bend in the side and the top plate and glue inplace using some gorilla glue pva. I then turned my attention to the second one when "shock - horror" the top plate came away and was lost (this top plate is very noticable) anyway I got my grey matter working and found some thin wood, I was able to trim this to shape and glue it inplace on the bulwak, then I was able to glue the stairs to the board. After a couple of coats of light grey here is the result - ok -ish. OC.

I have a question - what color would the wires have been like those above on the davits? Looking over some of my warspite pics - they look like they may be a shade of black. OC.

Another late eddition - I added two support wires on the 40ft derricks, they were simply wrapped around the top then super glued, then pulled down gently and glued at the ends, then the surplace was cut away. It will need a litlle tidying up where ca is then painting. Just the one pic. OC.

Great work greg - do you glue the pe boxes or just leave them built? I bottled out in using the whole 20mm pe sets, I just used the pe shileds but filed the plastic gun barrels a bit. OC.

Hi all, I decided to attempt to make some flota rafts today, I know you can buy these premade in resin, but the challenge was to make them myself, I thought that some thin insulating wire (the negative and positive shieves) inside mobile phone cords chargers might do the trick, I had an old in car charger leed with my phone (and not having a car) I decided to canabalize it. The insulator inside looked a good fit size wise, so I cut three lengths the same, then pushed them through a size guide in a metal device I have, this kept three lengths together while I gently touched the ends with ca glue. I then used the inner brass wire and wrapped two lengths round both ends, I then applied a small amount of ca to the bulwarks and attached the flota rafts. They then received a few coats of mid grey to match the bulwark color, I think they look ok for scratched items. Next off was to attach the four medium size rafts - two each side underneath the 15inch guns. OC.

More work today on the two rear bulwark 20mm tubs, I used the kit plastic parts but added the pontos pe shields, they where fitted then painted light grey inside the tubs and medium grey outside, and black on the gun barrel. Here are a couple of pics from my phone cam due to the macro mode. Thanks for all the likes and replies. OC.

Thank you kevin, she was my favourite ship of ww2 and what an amazing service she had only ending in cornwall when she refused to be sent to the scrappers and dug herself in on the rocks. OC.
