  1. Thats a great start with the planking lou, its is a scary stage and I remember feeling it had beaten me with my build, but remember the first planking can help to mold into how the planks sit, even if they turn out a bit rough or not fully sitting next to each(not a problem - the second planking will cover that) also with the wales you canfiddle around with those as you need - adding even small strips if you need more width, or even laying some thin strips ontop if you need to increse the width of the wale. I found with each adjustment I felt my way around my build - getting to know her profile and shape etc. I believe you can always add more planks ontop in thin layers to clean things up or add more width. OC.
  2. Its great following you on this build greg, as its not to dissimilar to my Warspite build, some similar building skills on the two ships I would think. (I will try to get back on her after my tub is done) OC.
  3. The veggie was a joke mate, I love my meat but dont mind salad sometimes when the weather is nice like now, nothing else on the tub im affraid, she is sitting on the table looking lost and alone, but to be honest its a "bad weather" job at the moment too much nice weather keeping me away from her. OC.
  4. Apparently throwing popcorn or other snacks at him slows him down, as he cant duck and build at same time. OC.
  5. Thanks mate, kind of stalled for a bit while we have some gorgeous weather and im spending most of the day-evening outside. OC.
  6. Thank you for that kevin, I will be detailing the sail, using a fine 1mm strip of wood to act ask a gude to score in and simulate some of the tiles. OC.
  7. Thank you sincerely for showing that kevin, I will have to have a re think, Im looking for any addional hull detailing I could apply to my (manily detail-less hull) OC.
  8. I had thought about scraping them in using a wood strip to guide and one of my sharp knives, but after reading Kevins post I will have to re think this. OC.
  9. I havn't really been able to concentrate on my build over the last couple of days, but earlier I came across a plan that shows some quite decent details, one area I have decided to work on is the section panel lines, these are the hull frames and with a slight drag of my scalpel blade against a wood frame, I should be able to create some subtle detail. Here is the plan. OC.
  10. Im not 100% sure carl, it mentions it even in a kit review here - http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/ships/hms/dd/eskimo-350-tsm/tsm-review.html I am sure that other model makers have said the lack of sheer follows for most of the RN ww2 Destroyers, please foregive me if I am wrong, I have never built one and just quoted what I have read. OC.
  11. I think I read about it on one of our fellow build sites where someone compaired the plans of the actual ship with the hull in the kit, and discovered the kits hull is slightly too level and missing some sheer towards the bow, they recrified it by building up the bow a few mm (not sure of the exact amount) and filling some of the port holes and re cutting some new ones to follow the new sheer. OC.
