That's what my kids say about almost everything that adds flavor to food, grows from the ground, and is not normally fried!...... Ketchup is the only edible red vegetable in their eyes.

Talking of toms,   I used to grow racing  toms  but ther were no good  - they couldn't Ketchup.

Bigger pictures OC ? ... they are 1920x1280px maybe just click on them ...

Greg she's turning out rather dressed up, and ready to go. How do you apply pastels on such a relatively small surface... medium, small sized soft or hard brush?

Its ok mate they just look a little smaller on the screen without clicking them,  great work all the same.

And he's off ... glue the blukhead in backwards ... what are you mate ... doing that is ... hmmm, I'm looking forward t your splashing paint all over the desk ...  you'll need some extra masking sheets to work that way, tape won't be enough.

Sheer, yes - the ‘bend upward’ of the deck towards the bow when looking at the side. It’s a tricky line to get correct, even when designing, since it curves in two directions- in towards the centerline,  and up (or, in some cases, down). Get it just a little off and there’s a can’t-quite-place-it ‘wrongness’ about how the boat looks.

    Thanks ben,   much appreciated.

    Thanks OC

I think I will try a combination approach, planking from the wales down and then planking the deck before I add the bulwarks above the deck line.

As the bulwarks are precut plywood on this model, I will probably install them temporarily as a guide for the wales and lower planking, and remove them for the deck planking, making the final installation after the deck planking is finished.

Thanks for the input and advice, it is truly valued.

    No problem my friend.

  5. Hiya mate,    I agree  you cant really go wrong how ever you tackle the next stage,  I found bending and spacing the first planking for the hull, to be the most taxing and difficult, and it wasn't until I purchased one of those (heat plank benders - looks like an electrical soldering iron but without the soldering tip).

But you could always do the build in different stages  like - putting the false deck in first then adding a few hull planks then start a few deck planks from the centerline.

Its really a veried situation without any particular set rules,  just try to mix the easy steps with the difficult ones.

This is a capture image I found in the imperial War Museum. Note the funnels are covered and there are boats on the deck. I suspect this is post WW1 but a nice image to show how grungy the hull was.

Quite large for a little ship,  if you get me.

I always wondered what the Flat Earth people thought was on the other side. Was it like a coin with the northern hemisphere on one side and the southern hemisphere on the other, or like you say empty on the back.

Being retired gives you the time to seriously reflect on matters of importance like that.

One would hope there would be a hand rail around the edges to stop you falling off,   I suspect it could be true - look at all those airlines offering fantastic one way flights.;)

I need a copy of that to remind me of how others may see things. Kind of strange seeing my home located on the 'other' coast though.

Do you have a flat earth map for that 'other 'crowd?

I used to know someone who kept a very large Iron for his flat earth theory,    he also thought on the other side it was just plain.

Anybody in for a test? What's the paint colour of the props ... (brand an' colour[nr] possibly)

I love the red lower hull color carl,  it looks like RN Anti fouling red, I assume this would have been kept constant.

Thanks OC, at least one whom values my appearance at this build log ... for as long as it takes ... I'm suffering already ...

Im actually really impressed with gregs building skills especially as he has to build then upside down.:o

All Carl would let us keep up here was the swinging chair we are sitting on and a bag of popcorn! He was so worried about stuff falling on him he has not allowed any of the bottles of grog the rest of you get to have. So no empties!:( I could dangle a few spiders in front of him if you want though!

Dont worry lou,   when im free from family things I will bring some Rum and pizza's over, and some ping pong balls to throw at greg.  (oh and some glass cutters to get through gregs glass case)
