Beef Wellington

Looking very good indeed Nils!  I was wondering who the giant hand belonged to 🙂  You've really achieved a true scale look, the close ups could be the real thing.  I'm sure the clinker painting is a challenge but turned out very well indeed, I'm sure it causes similar challenges at full scale.  Oh, and love all the detailing, very much enjoy following along.

Small update reflecting this weekend's work.  Have been unsure what to do with the fore companion ladder and whether to include the safety lines and whether these would look right, but approaching point where decision is needed.  I seem to recall reading in TFFM that the hand ropes would have been secured to small ringbolts in the deck below (there really should be a word for the situation where you remember reading something but then are subsequently unable to find the reference when actually needed!).  Small PE ring bolts were used in the lower deck and 0.3mm line secured to them with a false splice.  RB Models stanchions were used as they seemed a little more to scale, rather than the kit supplied items which appeared too tall - these may not be completely period accurate, but are close enough to my eye.

Status :
I started my luck in painting the white waterline stripe. I know its a tricky task on the clinkered Hull, whos done it before will know what I mean. If viewing from horizontal waterline level the stripe will be straight, if at an angle the white paint line on the strakes will be more or less a bit "zick zack" on the steps. Next will be to mask off the white line with Tamiya tape and get the underwater red or green coat (resembling the antiouling)

Ì`m really pleased with the outcome of the wooden plugs, got all in nice row alignment. The lighter wood color of the picks is a good contrast to the pear planks

Thank you all for the inspiration. I will use it once I have the material for rigging. Meanwhile I took a picture of the components of gun carriage (breeching rope with eyelets is still missing) this is what is in the kit. Once I decide on the tackles, I will have to add more eyelets.

I have shaped the rudder tiller and did the tiller tackles. The end of the rope will end on the rudder tiller as well, this is just temporary fastening on the cleat as I'm not sure about the colour of the tackle. This thread is supplied with the kit. The quality is fine but I'm not a fan of that white and glossy colour. I'm thinking of replacing it by my own thread with matt tan colour.
