    Hi Vivian,

Did you ever get back to this build?

Hey, Louie! Long story short - I moved from Brazil to Argentina and will get my ships later this year - I got some wood bugs to the kit unfortunately, but hope I killed them good before I moved here. I´ll be back soon, maybe with yet another build, since I´m close to buy a HMS Victory, from Sergal if prices be rigth. Thanks for asking and sorry for the time it got to me to answer!

    V,

Nice work on the sails. Interesting how the entire bow section is totally open to any slightly rough seas. That said bow section is needed as a work area. Nice project!!

    Vivian,

looking more carefully could that actually be the stern? It appears as if the rudder may be there as well, and as to how you mounted its sail. Not familiar at all with these boats.

The stern has the cabin. The bow is open so the anchor can be more easily handled. The rudder can be lowered or brought up depending on water depht. The rudder design tells a lot, since there are regional designs. Sails too!

  3. And here are some pictures. First one to see how It would be like. Test the blocks and such, since I intended to let the sails a bit functional.

I researched through some papers I found and the rigging seems to be too close to the kit's instructions, so I decided to go along with them.

Second one with the sail on it's place. Ropes are still loose till I find a way to set them as I want - won't use the instructions for that.

Third one details the ropes that pin the sail to the mast. That part was a little bit challenging as the thread was already sewed to the sail.

Next post I'll show the sail in place, just waiting for the other 2 to be rigged.

Your build is looking awesome and I'm looking forward to watching your progress. I've been eyeing up this kit myself and looking at your work is great encouragement, ( Just continuing to postpone my Bounty build till I get my skill level up. 😊 )

Have to say it's a great kit. Even though I won't use some fittings and all, still gave me much fun. It's a great kit to bash, too, as the junks have so many variants in build and shape through time. And thanks! 😊

Well, as people asked, here are some pictures from my marriage. In the first one me and my wife with my dad, and the second one at the celebration: cake time!

    IMG_20190408_094759.thumb.jpg.14d290b9540bd8182e296eefbc792cff.jpg

And some pictures on my progression. I searched for better sail pictures before sewing mine and found the gains on sewing them in stripes weren't that big. Don't know If I could do better, but think they are fine. I have some papers on junk sails rigging and will try to use them when the time comes - hope next weekend.

When you finish, will you be getting back to the Cocca? It would be nice to see that one finished, too.

    Steven

Thanks, Louie! I sleep looking to my ships. I'll get back to her as soon as I find the wood l need to close all cabins and such. This modifying thing of mine requires some extra wood 😬

I am glad that you are settling down again in order to continue working on your model and hopefully finish her (it seems you are closer to it now). I hope to see more updates and remember to take care of yourself. In the event you want ideas for working with your sails you may want to take a look at these videos for inspiration. Tu amigo, Raymond.
