Vivian Galad got a reaction from BETAQDAVE in Red Dragon by Vivian Galad - Artesania Latina - 1:60 - modified
Thank you all, very much. I´ve been working on my sails but, all for the bad, have no camera to take them pictures. My cellphone is broken, my camera missing, my tablet died and for now, all I can do is give some words about how it is going.
I´ve refused the kit´s sailcloth. Was thinking to use something more robust regarding the fabric, but changed my mind. Now I´m sewing some cloth from a new year´s unused dress. Can´t say, yet, if I´ll keep that, but, for the time being, seems pretty good.
Hope to have a new cellphone soon, with a nice camera, so I can show you the results.
Bye ^^

Aside my luck with electronics, all is fine! This week I´ll move my workbench from a room to another so my dogs stop breaking things (they´ve already put down my builds two times - the Caravel will need some repairs). Health is good, finally - but I´m unemployed right now (working on some side projects though), which means I have some spare time to build ships. Always love the receptiveness you show. Ty for all your care.

Thanks, Vivian. It's been a long time getting around to starting, and progress is a little slow. But I'm enjoying it.

Grrrrr curses,
I was just finishing up the shrouds and deadeyes on starboard side. Needed to angle the ship a bit sideways. It slipped out of its “groove” and fell over onto the table. I wasn’t careful when “sideways” positioning it.
Will leave this alone for now. Could have been much worse, I guess.
Need to think this through. OK Now just full attention to watching my Dodger game J

Mates,
Thanks for the likes and comments.
Peter thanks for dropping in and posting. I, also, as a landlubber, have tended to follow the look of builds that I admire. And yes it seems as if the deadeye alignments are the examples to follow, but I would imagine that your notions are actually correct. Your description makes entirely good sense.
I, then went back through some files, and did, in fact, notice variations with the museum's and the 1/10th. My mindset ignored "seeing" these.
Noted, thanks I will continue to eyeball them, but I will also be less stressed if I see minor variations. Thanks again for your thoughts.
Regards,
Michael

Vivian Galad got a reaction from SHIPSCAT in Red Dragon by Vivian Galad - Artesania Latina - 1:60 - modified
So, I took some pictures from my latest efforts. Masts are rigged and waiting for sails. Main mast is a little bit too tensioned, as you can see. I don´t know if with sail on it will bring it to it´s rightful position or if I should release some tension before installing the sail - my fear is to let it go and have loose ropes on my model. Would be great to have some opinions in that.
There are some few additions beyond sails, as the eyes on front rails and the painting on stern (I´ll make it as the kit´s decal don´t fit in my ship).

Hi.
A little update..
First photo is showing the Deck assembly with the bulwark/Strake being added to the deck beams.
Using a board with the correct camber the deck is held in place and the bulwarks are driven tight with wedges.
This is a method of getting the correct angles for the support braces.
Just 2 pieces of timber held flat against the planks and clamped. Gets the angles right and measures the length at the same time.
Photo showing the deck assembly with the oar holes supports in place.
Close up of the oar holes. Timber not yet finished.
The Stern spacers are now fixed in place. Have Got to add the rear platform yet.. Will do this when main deck is in place.
Photo of the hull support braces in place. I've rough cut these with a knife as they looked to clean having been cut on a saw.
And another one close up.
Will add the deck to the hull next week and make the deck support post's.
She is turning out to be one big ship.
Thanks for looking.
Regards Antony.

Thank-you Frank!
Well, I have another update. I've been working on the rudder with its pintles and gudgeons.
I used copper plate and cut it into strips which I formed on a 'dummy' rudder. Soldering was tricky for me at this scale, but I managed. I still have to fine tune and add faux bolts.
I've also made and added the midship set of spiral stairs with railings, and belaying pins are in place here as well. There is one more set of spiral stairs fore, yet to be made.
Last, but not least, I made the beakhead rails and supports. I'm not totally happy with them and some adjustments may follow.....or a total redo, I just haven't decided yet.

THE BOAT
of Caroline
Not a film from Petersen ......................it´s built by Tarjack
The screenplay
The scene scripts
The main roles
The left and the right hand of the D/T ...................................................... arjack
Bovine bone
Saw
Jigsaw
etc.
etc.
pp
The Set
Regie
Now for the movie ............ .................................. ääääähhheehe the building report
Usually here comes the chick with the cold drinks and the great ..................................... Eyes. What have you been thinking again ........................ piglets
During the planking of the boat I have taken no pictures. (yesiknowbymyselfitspity)
The material has been lost in the editing room. (whobelives)
In the first photo you can see how the frames are bent into shape after cooking. For this, the strips can be pinned on the form block for the boat and after drying they stay in shape. They are then glued. The frames are divided into two. The floor timbers are prepared in situ. The preformed ribs could be fit without problems.
The installation of the floor boards, Wash-board, thwarts and Remmleisten I did ...... but unfortunately not photographed (yeahyeahallwaysthesamestory)
But now jahaa enough photos that goes well.
Install the knee to support the thwarts was a real hassle.
The Boat-rudder- blade, of course combed into two parts was a great experience again.
The tiller a little challenge.
The bracket for the mast looks quite good, is not it.
The Stern-sheets and the side covers were also in line.
In between sample seats for the crew ...... * lol *
Then remove the sloppiness and make new: Customize grating clean. Gunwale back down and re-done, because wrong, this time with oarlocks. Set the Thwartknee to the correct position.
The Thole-boards were a real challenge. Tiny, shaped in three directions, with stop bar!
Then the fitting and final assembly this time right Gunwale.
Now a few settings using "director's cut" of the repairs of fixtures. (Botch eliminate)
Again a few parts for the box of memories!
The flagpole:
The flagpole with 4 hex taper is made from the blank. Then from the 4 hex to 8 hex, and now in the lathe.
Looks good does not it?
Even turned the mast and mast trunks and leadership of the shell is finished, lacking only the turned wooden knob at the top.
TATAAAA there he is.
The rudder also still needs the finishing touches
And in the end the whole thing, the crown is placed
CUUUUUUUUUUUUT
The Take
Dear Congregation, I hope that you have enjoyed the "film".
A continuation of the movie series is in progress
So long and have fun

Free watch on deck
After the ship was finally planked, I could attach the side pockets.
Here are a few detail shots that have arisen during the progress of construction.
After this work and 4 months later the pockets looks like this
and five years later like this
Have fun
