Congratulations Michael! Beautiful ship and log! Thanks for allowing us to share your wonderful log. I've sure learned a lot!!! Frank
-
Real nice base Michael! It is hard to tell in the photo. Is the base wider and longer than the Vasa model? Will the case sit on the edges of the base? Frank
-
Andre, Happy New Year! Glad to see you found your way back to your Wasa build. Cannons look great! Frank

Michael, The amount of detail you are putting into the sails (as well as the rest of the model) is amazing! Even though you say working on parts of the sails is "not fun", I'm sure you will be glad you made the effort in the end! Congrats! Frank
-
Michael, The sails look like they came out really nice. Congrats! What is the model lathe you are using for forming the yards, if I may ask? Thanks, Frank
-
Michael, Catching up on your log today. I really enjoy your determination and attention to the smallest detail! Great job! Frank

Hello, One last post on the final journey of my Vasa model! At the last USS Constitution Guild meeting (of which I am a member) I was surprised and humbled to learn that I won some awards for my Vasa model: First I received a "Silver" award in the master's category (voted on by 3 judges at this season's model show) More humbling was the "Members' Choice Award" . This award is given to the model receiving the most votes from the members of the USS Constitution Modeler's Guild The third award was given to the model voted most popular by the general public visiting the museum and show! Many thanks and now onto my next project soon! Thanks, Frank

Michael, Great update ! I love the detail you are incorporating and especially the mouse construction! On another note, I am loving the lamp! A lot of light and it is really helping me (with my eyesight issues and all). Thanks for the tip! Frank

Hi Michael, I hope all is well! Thanks for the information on the lamp. I am ordering one today! For the "Black Sails" last season, I will have to wait until the DVD comes out. I can't wait! Frank

Michael, Happy Holidays to you also! Have fun down south and I look forward to continuing to follow your excellent log in 2017! Cheers, Frank

Michael, Great idea using that black fishing line. I will be writing that tip down for my next build! Looks great! Frank
-
Mark, Very nice job on the cannon rigging! Unlike the Corel Vasa kit, it is nice to see that there is plenty of room between the hatches and cannon for those rear pulleys! Frank

Hi Michael, Nice to hear from you! I just started the Stage Coach this past week! I took the summer off and enjoyed some real boating and fishing up in Maine. I'm just getting back to my workbench and dusting things off. Thanks, Frank

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
