  1. Tim while the build is really quite Nice I esp. like the life boats and launching craft they add a dimension of reality when done right and my attempts fail thus far.
  2. Thanks fellas the decal issues I should of caught earlier just from having done so many recon crates and the "Flying Dutchman" which I think belong to the same FG same scheme.I think all in all it worked out one day I finish the 1/24 P-51.
  3. Late 60's early 70's it was called Calvert & Careway 1/2 mile from the house the local drugstore part of an isle to a/c kits. The place had your lunch bar with red then white stools best dam hamburger/fries in town $1.65 with your drink.Oh and the milkshakes it was treat when we went family of seven kids did not happen often. Now you stirred a memory Craig good ole days ......carry on!!
  4. Those aftermarket pieces do look Nice EG
  5. EG you've seen some of my wood work that will be the easiest part of the build. The question is does it come in the house(computer/gun display) or does it go were the Gato(4ft) resides?
  6. I get back from HobbyTown Mobile for supplies and I have a small package on the front porch.
  7. Thanks Mike really enjoying this one can't wait to get to the rigging makes the ship pop.I have a 1/350 flying boat(4 engine) if I can find the rest of the pieces I will put on a wire banking the ship if not order in some Zeros.
  8. Thanks Craig I am having Fun with this one It's either 5/6 all together Roger and their will be a flier or two I have the Kagero book very nice indeed but it has to be after the refit late in the war all double A's went triple with two extra around the center spotlight. The refit also included a dozen or so single A's on the foredeck and aft along with new radar.I would of had to have the book a couple years ago when I started to make the adjustments to late now also must be a later Chikuma out there from Tamyia.
  9. Thanks Alan It's getting close Mike and I might finish most of it this week.
  10. Just chugging along fellas built the PE catapult, incline rear deck and added some double A's.The SS is now glued and the Funnel various ladders have been added around the deck more to come.
  11. This is probably all I will need beside more paint. https://www.ebay.com/itm/293943952087
  12. One of my favorites even over the Bismark in the Kreigsmarine.I have seen some knock it for lack of piece count but they forget the 5/6 frets of PE that replace the plastic embedded through out the instructions.
  13. Well all the hull handrails are in place 48 each side meaning 98 holes nothing is glued on the decks yet.I have to pick up some screws tomorrow to mount the ship to it's stand after that already staring secondary guns dealing with a bit of PE.The next trip to Mobile I will pick up some of that Tamiya primer if it 's available there. The 1/200 scale Sharnhorst is inbound with the metal barrels and decking coming in later
  14. Arrrgh for Christ sake EG you going to keep going another 20/30 years get your **** back to work.Blessings from the Good Lord Above that it may be sincerely Best of luck Brother.
  15. Craig if I am reading you right are you talking about the three color scheme derived from one color for decks?I have done two back in day like that that is some work it works but alot of taping and patience.I in fact started the Eugen like that and bought the wood deck to go over it it's a long process.
  16. I think I will watch and see the progression while I work with wood some I have yet to complete a a wood ship.
  17. I like it and it's definitely different with a nice way to learn/preserve the history. The purple wood could be purpleheart starts off red and goes purple later if I am not mistaken. We get some of it comes in through Gulfport Harbor a couple times a year along with others from S.America.I think that you have given insight for a project much the same just not a game for the local Museum dealing with the history of the Gulf Coast in MS.A buddy of mine which I am doing a base for now a different commission job is doing the the "Trojan" for the City of Gulfport. I see your strip and it's purpleheart. http://www.historicalsocietyofgulfport.org/trojan.html
  18. Mike that's Tamy's stuff right I think I have a can 1200 rattle type also was thinking of getting some etching primer from work and maybe decant.
  19. It was not to bad Mike but did require some patience ,recheck and recheck and still a couple of touchups.I was not aware that Tamiya has a metal primer out there acrylic does not stick worth a hoot to metal. This build finds me using the most acrylic ever,I will have to clean and redo the railings always like to pre-paint .
  20. I have seen some builds of it Craig a partial I think at LSP yes Craig if this hits your bench lots of very useful info in the build on painting and things GWH got wrong minor but need to be addressed. https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/92782-finished-132-great-wall-hobby-p-40-curtiss-hawk-flying-tigers/#comment-1337129
