Started second layer hull planking. Does anyone knows if second layer plank edges near the gun holes should be painted in red or not? Now painted only inside metal parts. Few photos of my fun.

I painted mine black but yes all of the insides of the gun ports are painted. After the second layer surrounds the ports go back over and touch up.

Thank you for likes Scott, Bill!

I will finish gun holes painting, when i have them all done.

Today i find out one thing, on the front of the ship sheerstrakes are different on the plans and the pictures of the ship. I am not sure which is correct, i tend to use the plan, because it line up more nicely. Few photos.

The plan is correct, but due to the form of the bow, you'll notice that the planks will have a severe tendency to do what you see on the foto.

There is one thing where the plan is not correct (actually, more, but this one is easy to correct): The hawseholes are one wale too low: the should give acces to the main gundeck, the way they are drawn now, ends up below the deck.

Thank you Ken, appreciate that. Thank you for the help Amateur!, i will use the plan then. I see your pictures shows hawseholes are in the correct hight. Drawings not always correct, i noticed on the kit. Already noticed that gun carriages must be placed before placing second deck, it was not mentioned in the instruction. I will keep working on the planking, long way to go.

Thank you Jan, i just got book of R.Morton Nance. A lot of nice pictures there, i hope to use some i ideas. Now working on the back of the ship, placing ornaments, which necessary for planking. I dont know what do do with keel, its edge is not covered with wood, i might place some spare plank on it later. Few photos.

Looking great.  I never angled my stern planks  I wish I did. Kicking myself now! It looks great. The model gets quite heavy when all the decorations are on!!

Thank you Christian, OC, for checking! My work going on upper planking line adjusting. A lot of measures to make it symmetric both sides. Shaping front and rear castle lines and inside planking. Few photos.

She is looking really nice,  with the inside bulwarks you could try red ocre as I beliieve it was a faily normal paint medium, perhaps you could try that, (Its the same color as inside my bulwarks on my build).

Thank you OC, i have used red ocre for side decks. I sow your build, this color looks really well on your ship. I have noticed painting is much more relaxing then wood work. Few photos.

That red ocre looks really good  I think an authentic color really helps with the apperance of a ship.

Hi, thank you all for checking in. I am so happy the kit had enough green wood planks, finished them today! Hope later to work on the hull planking. Merry Christmas to all builders!
