HMS Cruiser by Wahka_est - Caldercraft - 1:64

Lower ratlines done. Started with upper ones and deadeyes there.

Learned for mistakes done before and now the upper deadeyes came out better than lower i would say.

I guess proves the the saying “you learn from experiences” (me being smartass :D )

All knots and seizing have been treated with pva and water mix(titebond quick and thick). Happy how it works there.

Small update:

1. Shrouds done

2. ratlines done

3. ships wheel rigged

4. bowsprit blocks done and bowsprit fitted to place

Small bits and pices missing from different areas.

Rigging causes a lot of questions. Thunder did his own rigging so i cant follow that. Drawings raise more questions than answers :D . I pit on drawing on a wall so from time to time i just watch them and at some point you get some answers-there must be logic in that. Books about rigging dont help much also as it seems to be rigged little different-probably simplified.

Decided to stick to Jotika plans on rigging and to get it done.

Sry for bad photos.

Off to stays now.

Stays are getting there. Few still to be done but most are prepared with seizing.

Holiday vacation has given me some good hours on build almost every evening.
Funny: i was afraid of rigging but now i somehow love it. Its like the ship becomes alive. Big help from Thunder and Snake builds explains some questionable places and also books help alot. Allready doing some modifications on rigging that CC drawings dont show exaxtly how to do.

An other note-i know my seizing isnt historically 100% correct-will do that better next time :) .

Keith

Tnx Keith!

Camera is the crulest i agree :D

I have compared my Cruiser to Terror and probably i wont finish that as they are lightyears away each other with regards of quality.
With Cruiser i know what i will do better next time but i just dont like the Terror wuality at all :( . Probably will give that away for someone to stand somewhere - everyone thinks thats super also (none of the tied to shipbuilding :D ).

Have also thought about next build. I took advantage of Model Expo sales in start of this year ( dont want to talk about this :D ) and i think Essex might be next but i would probably like to rig it also.
Any suggestions about extra plans for rigging and mast other than AOTS?

James Lees "masting and rigging the english ship of war" is good, but getting harder / expensive to find (have sent a few guys on here to the abe's books website). Also try local second hand bookshops as there are loads of books aimed at modellers showing masting and rigging,

Small update.

Stays allmost done. Wasnt able to finish last ones as k ots seizing is drying. Tomorrow i plan to finish those.

Next its to yards, half of them are done as wood wise but no blocks.

In general im pleased. Some blocks here and there to add on shrouds etc that also needs to be done.
