I couldn’t make two exactly alike ……so this one is an after market one.   Not sure I will use it though.

Rob, sometimes writing is not perfect thing for communication specifically if one is not extremly cautious when putting words - myself i mean. I didnt find humor in oversight but in Rich way of using words and commenting ... ( in an easy humorous tone I suspect.)....no offence meant. V.

Vladimir, my response to Rob's error in thanking me for your compliment was intended to be totally a joke. It was deliberately wordy to poke fun at the silliness of it all. I doubt anybody took it seriously. By the way, I'm so glad you read and write such fluent english. I know some German but none of the Slavic languages at all.

Rob, it's a nice little piece but isn't the capstan more wooden with some inlaid brass components?

The real capstan didn’t have any brass on it…….it was wood and iron.  I’m not sure she didn’t have an all iron one either.

Worked on the cat release or anchor release mechanism For the starboard side. I also added the cleats for the fairleads for the jib sails and their stays. The ladders are just mocked right now

It's probably going to be similar to the capstans on Ed Tosti's magnificent YOUNG AMERICA model.

I read somewhere that the capstans were a special patented version.   A more modern version then what Webb used on his  nearly 20 Year older clipper.

You must have REALLY tiny fingers to be able to accomplish that detail!

Rob, she's really starting to come together now. Of course, you're right about an almost 20 year newer capstan. I'll see if there's any Bow photos that may shed more light on this item.

Rob, Vladimir, guys I think I finally have made enough progress on my 1:96 scale "GLORY of the SEAS" line drawing that I can share it here. It's not 100% but before I continue filling in more specifics, I wanted to get your reactions. How does this look to you?

Rob, thanks, I have to do shroud mounts, two rear skylights, fore nameboard (man are they tiny) ship's boats, tackling and some Stern quarter carvings. Then Mike wants to see it. I'm going to see if there's any way to scan it & send it to him. Before I do, I'll share the finished product here.

Thanks Vlad,   The release mech’s are just under an inch long with their pillow block bearing mounts.

Rob, again I echo Vladimir's sentiments. Just beautiful, clean work.

Thanks Rich,   I plan on keeping this anchor suspended as it is,  and have the other hanging from the cat head via it’s internal blocking.     Both of these anchors will be removed when I begin work on the channels.

Hi Rob, doing a little catching up, looks like you have been very busy, the ship is looking great, super work on the tiny details. I really liked the comparison shots with the old photographs. The figure head looks great, how did you make her? I did not see any info on her so I must have missed it.

Again the work is looking superb.

Michael, as usual Rob will take all credit for the incredibly accurately detailed work that's done. Don't believe him. I have it on good authority that he's secretly contracted with teeny, tiny Elves who do all the hard labor for him! (in reality if you go back far enough he describes how he carved her from some form of dental material) he's even given Lloyd McCafferey a run for his money.

Thanks Michael.  She was made from dental light cure acrylic and other dental materials.
whatever I have on hand IS the material of choice.

Rob, that's just gorgeous . This particular angle reminds me so much of the one which I credit giving us the breakthrough in finally recognizing Glory's genuine Clipper shape.

This 1911 Seattle dockside view, which actually wasn't fully available even in Michael's first book, finally shows Glory's true razor sharp Clipper Bow. To me, this aha! moment is what allowed Vladimir to give us the incredibly accurate bulkhead kits. And Rob you're showcasing in your incredibly faithful replica, "GLORY of the SEAS" as she truly appeared. This is such exciting stuff!!!
