I totally agree.  Along with the WW2 Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, I think the Alaska-class battlecruisers were just about the best looking modern warships.  Pity about that gun tub perched right on the bows though!

They are pretty nice, although the Hipper class heavy cruisers were much much prettier in my opinion.... With the Prinz Eugen being the prettiest of the lot....

Tanks a lot!🙂

Yes, the main reason to buy the box now was to avoid dust. There are so many  tiny details...I will definitely brake something if I will clean her.🤷‍♂️

I know I'm nearly 6 months late to this thread, but in my defense,  I have only just joined.  Great result you achieved here! I literally just bought this kit last night and have been scouring the internet for builds to take note of and did a search here to find this build.  From all that I've seen,  it is one of HBs better kits in terms of accuarcy and fit. I got the impression you had no major issues with it? Is there anything I should be aware in hindsight? I can't wait to start mine when I get to it.

Hi! Sorry for late response)

First of all, my congratulations to you as you've bought really great kit!)

There are no issues with it. Everything fits good, photo etched is presice.

You should buy additional metal gun burrels for it.

And of course if it's your first ship, don't be hurry with gluing all together. Make a doublecheck before, that you're able to paint that stuff without extra efforts. It's better to paint some parts separately.

Good luck with it;)

Hey thanks for the reply, really appreciate it.  I made a start on it Sunday (mine is in a very unique camo skin) and already have the hull base painted. I did buy the Infini barrels and blast bags but that's it.  There's plenty of PE included and as you said, its really good quality. I wish all manufacturers would include that level of PE for the prices they can charge. This HB kit is total value for the really low cost, especially given that its 1/350. I've seen 700th scale kits that cost more than this

In regards to your thread, I've found it very useful for seeing how the radar is meant to be folded. The instructions are a tad murky in places with some of the intricate PE folds. So, thanks again for your thread, its been super helpful!
