Le Coureur 1776 by Tobias - CAF - 1:48

Hello everyone,
Well, I'll give it a try and start my construction protocol for the Le Coureur 1776 kit from CAF. It is my second model as I beg your indulgence if it is not perfect. However, I ask for constructive criticism as well as tips and tricks.
I deliberately chose this model because it comes very close to a POF and I plan to deal with a scratch construction later.
You can choose from the HMS Beagel, the frigate Naiad, La Renommee or the La Jacinthe. However, I still need some time to practice.

First, I built a small platform with storage space.  And in addition Ancre's monograph worried about comparing the plans with one another.

I ordered the kit from Tom in China on July 14th, 2021 and already on July 19th it was almost with me there was a number rotated in my postal code - so it was with me in Bavaria / Germany on July 21st 😉.  First of all, I checked the content and had to find out that two plates were missing.  I got in touch with Tom and thanks to the great aftersail Tom sent me the missing parts immediately.

In the next few days I was busy filing the individual frames.  Removal of the laser carbon, beveling the individual teeth and grinding.  See for yourself 😉.

The day came when I dared to go to the rear, very tricky, a constant removal and installation, adjustment, etc. In the end I was very satisfied with the result, even if it took two days to adjust the whole thing.

When all of this was done I could start with the interior planking.  I would like to say that it is not perfect, both in terms of my work but also in terms of the kit because the pages are not complete and you have to fill in gaps.

In the next step I started with the load compartment construction and decided to continue with the exterior planking.

I need about a week for the planking.  In the next step I started to provide the planks with copper nails and then blackened them.

So it's September now and I've started with the second page, but I'm not going to plank this completely.

Great work!  I don't envy you the task of sanding all that clicker surface however... 🤔

Hello everyone, thank you very much for your interest and your likes. In the last few days I have constructed the loading area in the middle of the ship.  In doing so, I deviated a little from the plans and brought in some personal inspiration.  I also put in support walls below the loading platform.  I filled one side with ballast stones.  Between decks and bulkheads were made.  At the front bulkhead there is a hatch to keep it moving. I aligned the frame of the hatch on double-sided adhesive tape and then milled a groove with the milling machine.  I also milled the sliding door.  I am happy that everything works.

Hello and have a nice Sunday evening.  I haven't been able to build too much on Le Coureur in the last week.  Now it was time to construct the partition wall with the doors, but I had to find out that everything didn't fit somehow.  The wall and the doors were about 2-3mm too high so I started to reduce the size of the floor and grind down the bulkhead of the ammunition chamber that brought about 1mm.  Next I put in the beam and the walls on the left and right.  Then I built a door frame because I really wanted movable doors.  I was able to implement everything and I am happy that everything worked out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oh yeah, the stove and the dresser were the smaller projects this week.

Hello everyone, what has happened in the last few days, well, I provided the doors with liquid glass and continued with the interior decoration.  Sheets and pillows sewn as well as 5 sacks, 11 barrels made as good as possible.  Unfortunately, I don't own a lathe or turning machine, so a mandrel and the drill had to do its humble job, I'm not yet satisfied with the result.  Fittings (barrel rings) as well as frames and lids still have to be made.  I wish everyone a nice evening.
