Hello everyone , and thank you to the Admin for letting me tie up here for a while .

I initially thought I would just skulk around the place in Cat like fashion and gleen the info that I needed to finish a boat build that I started a long time ago ,

18? years back maybe and put on top of a bookshelf to collect dust 😉 . Getting here has come about through You Tube ! and the pandemic believe it or not .

2 years back I started watching a - lot- of You Tube and stumbled across 2 channels where the guys were building and restoring wooden Sailboats , The Tally - Ho

project and Acorn to Arabella ( both Crews are doing amazing builds ! ).  Which led to Y.T. recommending modelling channels  of wooden ship models , which

re kindled my thoughts and interest in finally trying to finish the Bluenose 2 model that I started so long ago . A few of those You Tube channels had ( links ? or mentioned this site ? ) and I found myself beginning to explore your community , and wow ! I had no idea the depth and expanse of this hobby to say the least ! .

I've been reading some of the posts on things that catch my eye in the topics titles , and some of the "Old timers" here have more knowledge than google its self

( Holy smokes ) , one old-timer cautioned another novice that he was at the entry point of the rabbit hole and to proceed with caution before entering and I clearly

see why -- there's a whole galaxy of possibilities ahead me ( us ) . So 4 or 5 weeks back i got the boat down and dusted it off and started to continue the build ,

and am making good progress . I've got 25 or so years of Home Renovations experience and tools behind me and some skilz too 😉 and can say I've built some structures to get my jobs done that would make an OSHA or RBQ inspectors hair stand on end , but they held up and I lived ! . So the plan going forward is to

finish that boat come heck or high water and when it's done maybe even post a picture of it here ?

My street name is Rick Brady , and I'll be seeing you around 🙂

Even though I possess very few tid-bits of wisdom , I'll share the most relevant one : " You can hide a lot of Sin with Paint " 😉

Welcome to MSW, Rick.  Feel free to open a log on your model.  It's a great way to get help and meet others.

Welcome aboard, Rick.  When you say the folks on this site have more knowledge than Google, you have no idea how right you are!!  Seems like I learn something new every time I log on.

Hello Dave_E and Patrick ( Baker ) and Tomasz B  / thank you all very much 🙂

Dave , I've noticed an article or 2 from you that are on my mental reading list , which I hope to remember what they are come the weekend , lol 😉

And Tomasz , i stumbled across the Tally Ho restoration build early in the Pandemic and power watched my way through the whole series of shows !

138 ? episodes at this time and I can tell you I don't miss a one of them when Leo posts a new one .  the same thing happened to me with the Channel - Acorn to Arabella - a sailboat built from scratch ! Steve and friend Alex  even cut down and milled their own trees !  / I'll tell you -- if I could turn back the clock 40 years I would  jump at the chance to become a Shipwright ! 🙂  knowing what I know now about it , of course , and these guys are so amazing

to watch because there is hardly nobody building wooden boats anymore :( ( mostly plastic )  Oh and another favourite is the channel Salt and Tar

Garette and Ruthie built their wooden boat from scratch also - 5 ? almost 6 years long build , they expect to set sail in August this year -- finally - 🙂
