Wasa 1628 by JanV - Corel - scale 1:75 - Vasa

Recommended Posts

I am following the drawings of Corel to prepare the masts. My builds are now in a slow speed due to work and private issues.

I hope that the book Vasa II will be issued this year so I can correct some high visibel parys in the rigging

I fix those knots with a solution of 75% white wood glue and 25 % water. I tried first 50%/50% but then the fixation was not so good

I made first 2 double knots with a very thin line above the block and then fix this with a pensel.

A very nice build log! I am fascinated by ships that have been recovered and are being preserved. I have a few other projects to complete before I begin my first wooden ship model (Model Shipways US Brig Niagara). When I complete it and improve my skills, I plan on building an example of a recovered ship such as the Vasa or the Mary Rose.

"Any officer can get by on his sergeant. To be a sergeant you really have to know your stuff. I'd rather be an outstanding sergeant than just another officer." - SgtMaj Daniel J. Daly, USMC, 1921.

in the next step I will glue the other line on the canon and glue a separate roll of rope besides.

Correct Frank, rotating the model increases the change of unwanted damage.

I have seen this turntable somewhere else on a forum and noted that I had also one which was used for our old Television.

Hi Jan - in answer to your question about the rigging,I will put a link to the Vasa forum where I have gotten much information.

http://warshipvasa.freeforums.net/thread/97/rigging

If you search through the other sections you can find many little bits of information - it`s kind of scattered around. Also if you have any specific questions someone there usually knows the answer.

Thanks Mark,

I will start study these topics. I hoped that the book Vasa II would be ready earlier, but I understood that Fred Hocker is busy with other things :(

I am also searching now a good translation in the English terms vs the Dutch terms and I will also verify this information in copies of old Dutch books

This will become my Summer school  :dancetl6:  :P

I finally managed to have some time in my workshop to proceed

2015-07-12%2016.47.13.jpg

the main and foremast are ready now, waiting for the loading tackels and shrouds.

I also prepared a tool to be used for finalizing the ropes on the blocks.

I will show some details in practice later on.

Hi Jan,

I look forward to hearing more about this tool. Anything that can make the rigging process easier and better would definitely be of interest!!
