Traincat also have a 72 link/inch chain. They claim it to be the finest PE chain available.

 

I can't vouch for it's quality as I only just found it using Google.

I too have some fine brass chain from Blue Jacket Shipcrafters, and recently have purchased some very nice anchor stud link chain made by Caldercraft.

For the life of me I can't remember where I got it from, but I got some lovely 52/54 lpi black chain in 1 meter lengths at a good price. Do a google search, it will no doubt turn up. From 6 inches away you'd swear it was thread. And it's strong. BONKERS!

That fine chain is all very fine... but if you need some chunky stud-link anchor chain, it can be printed!

Or even cut from Card - it takes a bit of practise though  .

 

I found THIS site for various sizes of brass stud-link chain. Also THIS one - not sure what it's laser-cut from.

Thanks Pat. I'm at a loss to understand why they would put a Scale (1/350) on it - real chains come in all different sizes depending on the size and type of ship.

Probably because a lot of plastic kit builders don't realize that and keep searching for "chain" in the scale of their models. Maybe they found that "doing the math" to convert "links per inch" to various scales was above a lot of their customer's pay grades.

Yep, the products are offered by market... in this case, for the builders of the very common 1:350 battleships.

 

The smallest stud link chain I ever printed was 13 links per inch, suitable for the new 1:200 plastic battleships. It couldn't be produced reliably, so I gave up on it. I still get plaintive calls- "do you have any more chain???" This PE chain could be available for 1:200 BB's, would be a little easier to work with!
