Washington 1776 by Mike 41 - FINISHED - 1:48 - row galley

I will be working on the gundeck lining and the quarterdeck clamps next.

Hello Mike and happy Sunday!

With that speed you should be thinking on your NEXT project... It amazed me the woodwork and the amount of info on your pics. Excellent log.

Best wishes!

Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks it is easier for me to take a lot of photos than try to describe what I have done on the model.

My next project will be the HMY Fubbs 1794. I haven’t done much carving and I think she will be a real learning experience.

Mike

We have to head over to Valcour Island first.  Guy Carlton is waiting for us.

Now that I have the forward gun mounted, I will give him a 12 pound aluminum HOWDY.

I needed to build and install two 4 pounder guns before I could start the framing for the quarterdeck.

This set of photos shows how I turned the guns from ebony. I like to start by drilling the hole for the trunnion It gives me a good reference point to take dimensions from.

Be careful with those swivel guns...you'll put somebodie's eye out.

Seriously.  They look a little awkward sticking up by themselves on the QD, but I can picture the added railing and anticipate they will look great.  I look forward to your progress.

Thanks JesseLee.

Chuck you are right it was a bonehead move sticking the swivels on the quarterdeck before the rail was installed. I had to rework the last two swivel supports once the rail was in place.I have everything clamped up now and will post progress photos tomorrow.

Are you making any progress on the Philadelphia?
