Fashioning pintles and rudder.  At small scale, it is easy to lose track of size.  The rudder looks fine except that the tiller at 1:72 would be in reality 5" to 6" (12 1/2 to 15 cm.) in diameter, and totally out of scale.  The tiller handle was replaced with painted wire, equivalent to approximately 1 1/2" (4 cm.) diameter at full scale.  Gudgeons added to the transome and thole pins at the gunwale for rowing.

Marlinspike seamanship has been practiced for hundreds of years, including knots, hitches, splices and decorative knots.  Decorative ropework was typically seen on tiller handles, bell ropes, hand rails and stanchions, etc. although only one "turkshead" was seen in my photos of the "Victory".
Here is a crude example to simulate a decorative ropework covering on the tiller.

With all the shrouds and ratlines tied I decided to add as much of the standing rigging as possible before the topgallants masts went on. Again another small issue not enough 5mm dead eyes, to complete all the back stays to the main mast, so some extras were ordered, there are 88 supplied, which I admit I did not count, but I still counted up 90 needed, and at this point I am 6 short, I may have dropped and lost a couple, but who does not, I also think there should be a few spares built into the kit. Next the main and preventer stays to all three topmasts were made up and added, this did meant that bowsprit needed to be fitted, which has the down side of making it more difficult to turn her round, side to side, when adding rigging to each side.
One aspect, I have been having difficult with, is using  the rigging plans, so far I have found that some rigging rope runs overlay others, some of the runs I cannot even work out how they start or how they terminate, maybe it is just me, but, I did not have this problem rigging Pegasus, as a result this promoted me to dig out the Pegasus rigging plans and(in conjunction with Peterssons book), and as Pegasus is a ship rigged Sloop, her and Diana should be rigged nearly the same, so I am using both sets of standing rigging plans, and where I cannot, be sure, or work out, were the rigging runs on Diana s plans go, I will rig her as per Pegasus, this should be OK as naval rigging practices were most likely standard on all ships.

The main and mizzen top masts are now in place, and have all their shrouds and ratlines added, phew, I am glad they are all finished and that I split it up this way, as it did make the ratlines a lot less tedious to tie,I will now most likely add as much of the standing rigging that I can before fitting the tagallants masts.

Copper plating the hull.
                                  Firstly I decided to go with the copper plates supplied with the kit although I much preferred the look of the ones used on Pegasus, the cost would have been over £100 to update them too much for me.  I started from the edge of the keel and fixed a row of tiles left over from Pegasus on the edge, I then came down 3 Rows before running a gore line, I did it by eye and feel and looking back at Pegasus to get the same sort of effect, as there does not seem to be a definitive way of doing this. One advantage I have found with these plates are they fix very well, maybe it is the dimples on the fixing side holding the cyno better than a plain flat surface, they also cut well and dress down fairly easily with a file or sanding wheel, when you need to make up the triangular stealers.

The second planking is completed sanded, filled, and sanded again and lastly finished off with wire wool, I have also lined the gun ports with lids, all the gun ports have been painted. One thing I did do was to add a 1mm strip to the bottom of the keel as to my eyes the distance between the planking and the keel bottom looked to narrow.

The Admiralen class destroyers were a series of eight destroyers built between 1928 and 1931 for the Dutch Navy. All were lost in WW2, one in Rotterdam and seven in the Dutch East Indies.
The kit is from Pacific Crossroads, designed by Boris Mulenko, who is Russian and has built models of many of the Dutch ships that fought in the Pacific. The kit is a mix of resin parts and PE, and I have never used either.

Started with my (also new) airbrush. I practiced a bit on a small helo project (still visible!) but now started using it in earnest. Waterline is nice and straight and painting the PE before use seems to work. I put the resin parts onto double sided tape.

First experience with PE - I bought one of those bending tools and read a bit on Internet. Main tool seems to be patience and it's still holiday...

 
The nearly completed bridge, I count only 7 errors (all of them thinking errors - wrong parts on wrong places etc) !

 
And a start on the 75 mm gun platform between the funnels.

 
All for now - so far I like the work and I very impressed with the extreme detail in the kit.
