Hi Jack,
Thank you for sharing exactly how made the first shield, it really does look great !! And already better than the kit one
I have taken a screenshot of your post so I can tease you with it when you create your first ship of the line

And a big happy birthday from me too Sjors!

Hi again David,
Thank you for the reply and the information and tips already!
I have to admit that I have already given some thought to adding to my kit with nicer wood, gun carriages possibly, etc but hadn't even thought about the cords so I am learning from you already. Thank you!
I will put all of my material into some sort of order and send you a message. I am quite sure you probably have most of it already, but I just might have something you are missing too

Hi Keith,
What a great (and informative) start to your new log. I can't wait to see what you can do with such a magnificent ship!
-
Good luck with your new workshop!

Oh wow Popeye!
I thought the little boats looked just about perfect but when you put them on the deck they look even better!
Great job!

I really would appreciate any advice/criticism about planking. Or anything!
Hmmm I can't be much help sorry Brett as I think it looks great! To be honest I can't even really see the "oops"
I guess one bit of constructive criticism though would be that I don't think the blue planks in the bottom picture really go with the other ones sorry

Now that is clever!
It looks great!!

Massive congratulations to Hothead !!
That really is such a big achievement and you have every right to be so proud. Maybe you can even forgive him for breaking one or two of your tools? Haha

Hello David,
I have just found your log and would love to follow along if there is still room? It seems there is already popcorn but I can bring some wine along from my current adventure
I am just starting the Mamoli version myself and am very interested in what you are doing! Although I certainly don't have the experience to answer any of your model building questions, I have already gathered a whole lot of research material and might have an answer or two on those questions as they come up.
Good luck with your build! It sure looks great so far!

Thank you for the extra pictures Ollie and congrats again!
Each photo shows just how great your work is on the magnificent model

Hello Denis!
I can't wait to see what someone with your skills (and new toys) can accomplish with a ship as beautiful as this one, particularly after what I have seen in your Sovereign of the Seas! And I am so very happy that I am lucky enough to watch from the very first steps and have my pencil and paper ready to take notes and learn as you go!

Hi Nenad!
I don't think your log could be boring if you tried haha. I (and so many others I am sure) enjoy every word, but also learn so much as you share each step!
But you have to give some credit to your co-builders too for keeping us entertained
This post made me laugh out loud haha
Yesterday I presented to Admiral and Hothead my progress with riveted plates ...
Hothead was delighted, and, as he know EVERYTHING he was full of advises how to proceed ...
Admiral forgot her likes showed to rivets and hings at water posts, and ask me, why don't I just paint hull in gold ... from understanding support and delightness to the total misunderstanding I suppose this is usual path we all walk on here...
Her Majesty asked me can I do this faster. I answered Her with question: Do you rather like nice or fast dress ? She answered: ok,ok, don't be angry, I am just female ...
I understand Her
Obviously next stage of madness ... talking with modelI hope you have more luck with your conversations with your Cutty Sark hahaha

Plank a plastic boat? Sorry, can't be done.
TERRIFIC IDEA!
I could not have said it better!

Hello Raymond,
I too would like to congratulate on the completion of an incredible model. I sure hope you are proud of what you have done as you most certainly should be! It just looks terrific !! I can't wait to follow your next project and steal some more hints, tips, and ideas and inspiration!

Just amazing Ollie and the cabinet is perfect too!
It was just meant to be!!

Hi Jack,
A big congratulations on your Christmas present! I am guessing he doesn't really check his list twice after all, or have you been VERY good? Joking !!!
It was just wonderful to come back and see the beauty of your Oseberg Viking Ship taking shape AND some more of your amazing photography! I think I am as much help as your Admiral in that I was positive that Driftwood was my choice of colour until I checked the spelling and decided I preferred the Spiced Walnut, but now I check again I do prefer the Driftwood, wait a sec. Oh darn it, I will go and look at your photographs instead hahaha

Hi there Vivian,
It made my day to open your log and see you have been feeling a little better and able to do some ship building. My day got even better still when I saw your doors, windlasses and deck and how good they look!
-
Wow Mike,
That looks just fantastic! Great job! I really did like your planking (even after reading of your trials and tribulations) but the finished hull just looks so special!
