Managed to get the Fore Mast Braces completed, and moved to the Main Mast Braces. Finished the Main Topgallant Yard Braces. This leaves three sets of Main Mast Braces to complete the Running Rigging. This then leaves the Cutting in Stage and rigging the whaleboats to the Davits to finish up. Based on how I've been progressing, the Braces should be finished tomorrow, with the rest in the next few days.

Then we have both problems with reading the plans
The only thing is that I see it by myself and I have time enough to change it.
    With other words....it is done

The other chainplates with the deadeyes are also done and has to wait till I have finished the gun port lids before I can attach them to the hull.

    And Mark ?

    Thanks for the tip.
It works to place them on the chainplate when they are not at the hull.

Wonderful work, Karl. What sort of jig do you use to transfer the heights for the platform beams inside the hull?

Happy Holidays to you also and we all look forward to 2016 updates fro you!

Working on the main wales. The stock used on these is 7x2mm walnut. This is pretty hard stuff and requires a severe bend and curvature at the bow. I had to use a mechanical bender as well as soaking in ammonia solution and heating to make the bends without splitting the wood. Once the planks were fitted to the hull, holes were drilled and toothpicks inserted for simulating the trennels. After drying, everything will be painted.

    UPDATE.... New carving

A slight change in our holiday travel plans gives me an extra day in the shop, so I decided to knock out a new carving.
Here's a beautiful seal for a European train company I ran across while browsing around looking for more interesting clip art.

The lion figures and scroll work in the center just blew me away.

I will attempt to carve as much detail as possible given the size of the panel it must fit into (1.5" wide X 3/4" high)
Again, my favorite carving material is the faux wood vinyl window shade slats I have used for most all of my carvings.
Clip art glued to the slat....

I have managed to carefully cut most of the outline shape with my fine pointed X-acto blade I showed earlier.
The fine detailed "clean-out", seen on the left side lion, is being achieved with a Dremel with a flexible drive using a tiny bit given to me by my dentist.

Once I finish the clean-out of the middle details, I will begin working on the relief details.... hopefully I can get it fairly close.

This should keep me busy today and tomorrow.

Continuing on with the bowsprit rigging I did the Inner Martingale Stays next.  As with the bowsprit shrouds I installed the stays opposite to what's described in the instructions by running the lanyards through the eye bolts at the bow and the bullseyes at the end of the line, then threading the line through the fairlead and dolphin striker and ending by seizing it to the end of the jibboom.  For me, I found it easier to do this way because then I didn’t need to worry about determining the correct length of line if I ran it the other way.  Instead I used the seizing at the end of the jibboom for final adjustments.  Hope that makes sense.  The bullseyes at the end of the stays were made as described in the manual which were a lot easier to make before the line was tied to the ship.

After installing the stays I glued on the splash guard.

Moving on to the Outer Martingale backropes I again tied the lanyards first but decided not to tie the other end of the line to the bottom of the dolphin striker just yet.   Thought it would be easier to install the Outer Martingale stay lanyards first so I wouldn’t need to work around the backropes. The stays were installed at the bow and then threaded through the fairlead, dolphin striker and finally through the blocks at the end of the flying jib.  Then the backropes and stays were then seized to the bottom of the dolphin striker.

The foot ropes were installed as described in the manual except that I tied the knots in the line before putting them on the ship.  After they were installed the lines were coated with a 50/50 solution of water and white glue.  The glue was left to dry and three or four coats of glue were applied.  Clips were added to shape the line and the final coat of glue was left to dry for that mystical time, ‘overnight’.

Here is my sophisticated lanyard measuring device to keep them all the same length.

If you look at their web site, you would see that the cost includes a 1 year subscription to Autodesk Fusion 360, so the software is included (for a year), but the computer is not.  Also note that Autodesk has made the Fusion 360 program available free to hobbyists now.

Note that they have begun delivering machines now, and the kick-starter is long since over, and all future sales are just normal purchase arrangements, with current delivery sold out through May, so current pre-orders are delivering in June of 2016.

I'm not in the market for this thing, and only found out about it from this thread, but found all this information from their website, provided in the links in the first post, and the information from Autodesk took a single Google search.

I hope they do well, as this is a cool machine and I'd like to see the people who developed it be rewarded with some success.
