That is a beautiful job!!
So when I send you the quantity for my brass belay pins, do you need an Autocad file or just a dimensioned drawing? 😉

hof00 got a reaction from Nirvana in Pen Duick by hof00 - FINISHED - Artesania Latina - 1/28
I can now truly say that this is finished now it is in it's Cabinet.
Wood is a Native New Zealand Timber, Rimu, hard to get hold of, just lucky that I've got a bit tucked away.
Cabinet has been situated next to a wall in the Lounge and Earthquake Braced. (Hopefully Braced enough)

hof00 reacted to CDW in Grumman TBM-3 Avenger by CDW - FINISHED - Trumpeter - 1:32 scale - PLASTIC
The focal point of this model are the interior components. Not sure how much of it will be seen once the fuselage halves go together, but it does have an open bomb bay, and open hatch for the gunner's station in the ventral position. While even now the interior parts look complex, this is only about 50% of what will be the sum of it, while I still must add a lot of detail including the gun turret, the ventral gun station, and options for an extra fuel tank, or a torpedo, or four bombs in the bomb bay.

The two "cow-catchers" are the last major things to fit to the loco before it's finished. Here are the pics of them :
The bars are all different angles and lengths, so I sorted them out and marked them before gluing them together :
The brake hose fittings :
All the front is now finished. Just a few rivets to re-glue and I can spray it with satin finish clear lacquer :
Now to build the tracks for the base.

hof00 reacted to NateB in Santa Maria by NateB - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:65 - First wood model/ship
Good Evening fellow shipsmiths
First a little intro about myself. I am a 35 years young man from South Africa, currently residing in Cape Town. I have done quite a few plastic models before and have enjoyed doing them. My uncle picked up a AL San Giovanni Battista about 15 years ago(which he is still doing) and this was my first introduction to wood modelling. For the last 5 years i have been working in construction which gave me a few skills for me to attempt a wood model. After finding this forum and these build logs i finally decided to do one and to do the Santa Maria by AL as it was one of the readily available ones here in Cape Town. I first wasnt going to do a build log but after seeing how much help others have gotten here am going to do one.
Onto the build. I started this build at the beginning December 2019, I dont have many earlier build pictures as over eagerness didnt leave time for pictures lol. I used many of the advice and ideas from the build logs here. Would like to thank whoever created all the articles in the database you have here. I got a lot of ideas from a user Katsumutso(sp) build of the Santa Maria and must say his build is absolutely stunning, not gonna measure myself against it lol. I didnt really have any trouble with the planking phase. I did make a few mistakes when assembling the false keel and bulkheads. i also did not check to see if my deck lined up properly with all my bulkheads and had to use a bit of wood filler as a result. I had more trouble with the veneer as it was harder to get it to bend the way i needed them to but in the end managed. A few pics to show you where I am currently.

Hi
I started mounting the rig but it takes time, so to start with the easy one I started with the bowsprit just to get started.
Cheers All.

it is now almost 4 years since I put dead eyes on C.S. and much has happened and learned since then and now I have broken the code to make ok dead eyes and have therefore changed them all.
Before :
After
and thus the work continues indefinitely
Cheers All

hof00 reacted to Ekis in Medieval Fortified Village by Ekis - 1/87 scratch base kit Aedes Ars
The first cloister building is advancing quite a bit.
I had to transform a little to make it more aesthetic and conform to the Roman Art of the church. The old kit did not provide for a column, no difference between the exterior and the interior openings.
Similarly, I added floor tiles and a door from the tower which seems logical ... I spent a few hours there.
The remaining holes or stone overflows are future connections with the church or the rest of the buildings.

Hi Chap,
Yup, the same set of plans, Cutty Sark Society....
(I went to a Print Shop and increased the size to A1? The largest that they could do anyway.... I need to see!!!))
(I don't think that there would be too much "Copyright" stuff going on....)
Wot can I help with further?
Cheers....HOF.

Hi Harry!
Merry Christmas and new years! (belated)
to answer your question about the Cutty, she is sitting there unhappy for lack of attention.
All of my time from July until Christmas was taken up with that lathe from my post in June. What began as work to just clean up the lathe and get rid of the chipping paint turned into a complete tear down to the bed frame. All disassembled, striped, cleaned, repainted, and reassembled. I'll post some photos soon. Now that the rebuild is finished and a table built to hold the over 450lbs (don't know the kilos) of iron, I will start back on the Cutty sometime this month.
best,
marc
