Thank you Bob. I have taken an occasional look at your Pen Duick build and it looks spectacular. The work you did on that hull makes me very glad Spray was an old work boat, not a racing boat. Although it doesn't appear that you're back to work on the model yet, it's encouraging to see you posting comments on these forums. Hope you're back at the model table soon.
Thanks, Tom, I'm getting close to spending some time on the Pen Duick. I've been deep down the guitar playing rabbit hole lately and just purchased a new guitar to add my collection which now stands at 6. More than I need but I enjoy them a lot.

She's looking wonderful, Tom. I'm about to start reading Slocum's book, "Sailing Alone Around the World." I just might have to build this model someday too!

I hope you recover quickly, Sjors. I'm looking forward to your next model.

The CA glue is so unforgiving. In attempting to attach the scroll work per instructions to the bow I ended up with a chocolate mess. Repainting the entire hull is not an option having come this far
I know the feeling! I have a small, 2 inch crease in the paint on one side of my Pen Duick hull that occurred when I pushed too hard on the cap rail while trying to move it over just a smidgen in one spot. It pushed the plank just below the cap rail just hard enough to create a crease line that is only really noticeable when you hold the model up and look closely at it. However, it still bugs me but I'm afraid any attempt at trying to lightly fill the crease, sand and repaint the area would probably create a bigger problem so I think I'm just going to live with it...
It looks like your fix will work out quite well though.

Thanks very much for your thorough explanation. I can actually understand it and math is not my strong point!

Thank you Bob. The hull painting in your Pen Duick build log inspired me as to what can be achieved.
I almost embarrassed to admit how many times I had to redo the paint job on the hull of my Pen Duick before I got it right but thank you anyway!

The authenticity of the details you have added to this boat is amazing! I have this model on the shelf and I thought it would probably be a relative "quick" build for me at some point. I now know it will probably take me a long time to even come close to making a model that is half as good yours. You've set the "standard of excellence" for building this model and I know I will want to try and follow your lead.

I know this has probably been discussed elsewhere on the forum but how exactly do you calculate the proper scale when adding details to a model?

It's great to see a build log for this model. Good luck on your build.

She's coming right along and looking great, Sea Hoss. I've been following the build of this boat by yvesvidal too and I really like this model.

Wow...your creativity and attention to detail are spectacular, Mike. Beautiful!
