Having decided not to try my hand at a scratch build I do not need the keep my Byrnes Thickness Sander. The sander has never been used or powered up. I also have a few extra sanding sheets that are cut for the machine. It is perfect for scratch builders that are considering a thickness sander and a fair savings. I am asking $290 plus actual shipping. Shipping to the east coast is about $52 so I anticipate that shipping costs could be less. I am willing to ship abroad but I think the shipping cost would be quite high so CONUSA only. I am located at 91307. Please ask questions and thanks for looking.

I am going to part with my Confederacy kit. It has never been opened, still sealed from Model Expo. I built one of these years ago (my thread may still be on this site or I contributed to other Confederacy builds). I passed it on to a fellow ship modeler in the Ship Modelers Association. After looking at the wonderful scratch builds on this site I came to the conclusion that they were way above my pay grade and so wanting a complete Confederacy I chose to get another kit. After much consideration I decided that POF/POB is not longer going to be something I can manage. ----- I was informed about the Model Expo final cost of the kit with free shipping and also checked my invoice. Since I do wish to sell the kit the price has changed to $350 shipped CONUSA. If any interest please let me know. I am hoping to find a buyer on MSB but if not it will go to eBay and then perhaps the ship modelling club. ----- Thanks for looking.

Hi Chris, Yes, I am a member. I don't go to meetings because it is a 3 - 4 hour drive in traffic on Tuesday evenings in the West San Fernando Valley. There is a member nearby that does go and I occasionally pass on some items for the club. If the books do not sell soon I will be donating them to the next sale/auction.

A year and a half ago I collected Ed Tosti's on the Naiad and Young America and David Antscherl's books on building Swan Class Sloops. My ambition was to do one scratch build but time is moving on and a scratch project is not going to happen. I have already sold the Young America set. I have Ed's books Vol. I and Vol. II for the Naiad with plans. I am asking $135 shipped CONUSA. I have David's Swan Class revised 4 book set, Sail making supplement, and plans with CD (actually a thumb drive). I am asking $395 shipped CONUSA. If any interest, please contact me. Thanks for looking.

Just another two cents. In general, what model is one building. Is it the one from the plans and built to the best standards available at the time of the ship was built. Is it exactly as it was just before launch. This no one will know unless the ship exists today as it was originally built. Is it the same ship that one of the captains decided to make some rigging changes since he didn't like the way the ship handled under certain sea conditions. I understand that some British captains changed rigging and/or rake of masts to help the handling but being against Admiralty orders not to change rigging. I think it is not possible to reproduce a model exactly as originally built. I think we need to let Ed get on with this magnificent build thread and understand that he is building this to the plans set that he has and building to best available standards of the time and incorporating the best of the research that he has done.

Any updates forthcoming? -
I just looked at your previous PE work, especially the railings which are extremely difficult to shape and mount. I think you will do just fine with the very small parts.👍

I appreciate the difficulties in installing PE. It is my worst nightmare. My biggest problem is managing the adhesives to fasten the parts. Keep working at it. It truly enhances the model considerably.

Nice recovery. Went through this on two previous builds over the years. Everything must be methodically measured and checked against the plans. If not, disaster. Keep up the great work.

Hi Ed, Following this thread is pure joy. An education on every page. For SJSoane and others I suggest Google "Around the Horn movies 1930's" and you will get a first hand view of the crew working in extremely rough weather. "Imaging climbing out there in heavy weather..." took very special people to do that kind of work.

I have an early version of the MicroLux variable speed scroll saw that has had many great years of use. I upgraded to a PROXXON so this one has to go. It is in very good working condition and is very useful for some detail work requiring this type of saw. It comes with the bench mount and various blades. Note, the rip fence is under the saw blades and the adjuster just shows through, sorry about that. Asking $100 plus shipping CONUSA. Shipping estimate from 91307 to 10001 is about $31. It should be a bit less for a buyer that is closer to 91307. Thanks for looking.

Hi Greg, excellent work. I am totally befuddled using CA on parts mostly at the scale of the Yamato. No matter what advice is given I fail miserably. Could you please relate some of your techniques as it appears to come very easy for you. Thanks, IR3
