Hi Paul Your mortars look like they would fire in a second. Great job done! Regards Gerhard -
Hi Paul Thank you! There is still more of that brass parts to come, the most difficult things are not even started. I will have to make some winches for the wheelhouse boats, and the davits for the longboats are even more work to do. Next steps will be the mounting parts to the small boats davits, then I will try to do the davits for the longboats. Regards Gerhard

Hi Bob Thank you! That`s why I am in forums, to learn from others, and to show how I do the different jobs. It`s all a play of give and take........ I always try to do the single parts as close to the original as possible, but there will be some of them a bit different to original. This comes, when it is easier to mount them to the ship. Todays work was to finish the mounting parts for the wheelhouse davits, only 8 parts, but a bit complicated. I had to take care, that the mounts are not soldered to the davits, especially the lower mounts must move free. Upper mount before soldering Upper mounts ready done Lower mounts done, the davits can move free, sorry, made no photos from the working stages . Thank you all for watching and your so many likes! Best regards Gerhard

Hi druxey Thank you, and thanks to all who like that kinda work! There are still more of such small things to come, all that little fasteners still missing. Next to do will be the clamps for the davits, started ysterday with them. More will come later, today I start with the second part of my home improvement too, so there is just litttle time for the modelworks Regards Gerhard

Hi again, and many thanks for your kind comments & likes! As I started yesterday with the mounting angles I continued today. Some of you may wonder, why the parts look like forged, but they are not. This depends on the way i make the holes in such parts. Mark the holes with a larger spike, then grind the "nipple" away Bend the part back to straight, then repeat with a thinner spike All eyelets are done, and the completed Angles. They were soldered in the form shown earlier. The completed levers with mounting anlges, the levers are moveable! Best regards Gerhard

Hi Ken and Bob Thank you for your nice comments, I`m trying to do my best . But I see myself still as a learning individual, discovering almost every day something new. This days I spent with thinking about, how to make the mounting angles for the levers, the soldering form is done, the raw parts also, tomorrow I will soder the parts together. The raw stripes, paperforms glued on. The bended angles, holes are made One angle in the soldering form, before soldering, the eylets missing. The eylets are cut and grinded to shape, more photos will come next time! Thank you for watching, and your nice likes! Regards Gerhard

Hi Antony I found this "by accident" and saved the full set of plans for later use on my PC. So, if this plans are offline somewhen, I do have them all. All the best for your build again, Regards Gerhard

Hi Antony Highly interesting project, we`ve been writing about that type of ships in another (german) forum. There is not very much to find in the net, but there is a maybe useful link for you, including measured drawings! http://www.yi-sunsin.com/03ship/02_03_01.jsp Good luck for your build Regards Gerhard

Two days of preparation have paid out, the four levers are ready done. I`ve milled the form 2 mm lower, so soldering was much easier to do. The milled form with the first lever before soldering The first lever done All four levers, the rollers and mounting parts are still missing, they will be made the next (few?) days. Regards, thank you all for watching, and comments! Gerhard

Hi Charlene & Jerry YES! I will "stay tuned in" at your report! Thank you too for your kind words, I`ve got it from my dad, he was working as an engineer at the Austran "Saurer" Truck company. But it took some time to get at the point I`m now. But lets go back to your build, I like the Bounty, and you have made it a beautiful example of craftsmanship. Best regards Gerhard

Hi Steven You can make the oars very simple if you own a lathe. See a method for such things in my report to the SMS Danzig, Page 1, Post 7 http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/12842-sms-danzig-1851-by-gerhardvienna-radio-150-scale/ When the oars are not over 2,5 mm diameter, you should use round wood of 3mm diameter and a piece of 4 x 3mm brass tube, and file that in shape. Then you will only have to rework the blades. BTW, really interesting build!! Regards Gerhard

The next steps are done, this time the for lower levers to the Wheelhouse davits. As first I had to make a soldering form, and to produce some parts for the levers. They are between 3 an 45 mm in scale, all made from brass 0,1 mm sheet to 1 x 2 mm, each lever is to be made from 11 single parts. The pieces for one lever First parts in the form One complete lever in the form Next to do is to mill the form a bit lower, and set two spacers at the space for the rollers, and then solder all levers. This will happen tomorrow, hope it will work as I thought. Regards Gerhard

Hello again Here comes the next part of making the small davits. After the top ends of the davits were done, I had to make another change at the soldering form. the mid part was cut down, and the outer parts were carved for a 0,5mm "seat" for a small brass ring. The davits soldered with the lower bolts, just the rollers missing. Best regards & thank you for your kind likes Gerhard

Hi Paul Thank you! It took me a lot of time, to get where I am now, here is another example of what can be soldered, the screws of my tugboat Bison, this is another recent build on my wharf. Regards Gerhard

The small davits, Part 2 The brass parts are ready for soldering, the plywood piece is used as a spacer to keep the axle holes and the space for the rollers clean. First soldering done Then the form was milled out for the next stp of soldering. 2 more clamps will be soldered here, this is for the outside rollers Even at this step are wooden spacers needed, the needle holds them in place The upper ends of the davits are ready, just the rollers missing. Next to do are the lower ends for mounting the davits to the ship, this will be done tomorrow. Regards Gerhard

Hi Nils First of all, great job on this small winches! To figure out, what the requested winches were for, it could be helpful to see a bit more from the whole deck. Regards Gerhard

Here we go again, but first of all many thanks for your interest, and for your kind likes! At the time I`m working on the davits, this time the davits for the small boat. I use plans from the "Atlas du Genie Maritime" again, this time plan no. 244. The left one is used for the small boats davits, the right side drawing will be used for the larger boats. As usual, I made some copies from the scaled plans, cut the shape out with a bit oversize, glued them to 0,5 mm brass sheet, an cut 8 pieces from that First 3 pieces, the basic shape is same, the differents are intentional. Then a soldering form had to be made, the form is screwed, it will be used later with some changes for the following steps, when once the basic davits are soldered. All cut pieces and the soldering form The form filled with the first 4 pieces, the davits are to be made mirrorsame! Mark the two cutouts at the center pieces, a roll will be installed there! Next steps will be the soldering of the davits, the changes at the soldering form, and the final steps to the finished davits. Regards Gerhard
