They are fine denier thread, the copper wire is very hard to thread as it bends so easily and you can’t unbend it. -
So the paravanes are rigged and the plastic cover is off the base, I’m calling her done. I’ll take some better photos for the gallery tomorrow IMG_3530.MOV

A bit of a buff overspray to dull down the shining white tarps, ladders, paravanes, all other dandyfunk has now been added, just rigging of that stuff and touch up painting to go. Now if I can just find the italian flags that I have lost

They usually left them on, but the line that runs from the mast to the bow would be down for the aircraft being out, so it’s a matter of displaying all the elements so to speak

Continuing with the awnings, I have to teach myself how to make the canvas out of cigarette paper now

Around 100 plus Awning stanchions, I ran out of ones provided with the upgrade so used some I left over from Yamato

Tamiya make a 2 rail set (out of steel and the best). Ship Yard Works also have it. Go to Hobbyeasy in HK is the easiest way or EBay. obviously some upper works were solid metal (French warships appear to have solid railings as well. Given the amount of work and handling needed the deck stanchions needed to be lowered. rigging 3 bar railings is a killer and you go through some drill bits

So many hours later, railings done. I much prefer this method as it feels so much more realistic

There is actually a cover that slides off he top of the hangar, it appears to be a trolley and a larger canvas tarpaulin for the larger section (I intend to roll it up beside it. The other Dericks I think are for ships boats that were sometimes stored on the bow section now the railing stanchions. This is going to take a while

This is off the original plans in the early 1930’s, I’m trying to figure out how the winch was drawn up.

It’s run to the finish’s line now. It’s taken a week or so to get lots of little things done, but this is a great feature on the ship. the kit only comes with 1 plane so I bought a 6 pack of them, and the upgrade comes with PE for two. the anchor chains were added and a aftermarket set of anchors which are better than the kit blobs. Tomorrow I’ll rig this crane and do up some rigging for the paravanes, then I can do the individual stanchions
