  1. One complete set of rough cut sails for a Baltimore Clipper, some (read a lot of) sewing required.
  2. Thank you for all the comments and the likes. I believe that the Prince de Neufchatel is ready to receive sails. However, in order to install sails, I must first make the sails. For this purpose, I traced all sails and am in the process of enlarging them and tracing them out on slightly darker than cream colored linen that I bought many years ago for sail making.
  3. I made the brackets for the blocks on the fore course tack. I completely missed them until I was getting ready to rig the sails. They may or may not be made of toothpicks, lol.
  4. Thank you, appreciate it. The blocks aren’t bad to make. They’re just a little tedious. I make a bunch at a time because I do all of the shaping before separating them from the strip of wood. Inking just involves using really thinned down paint to lightly color the wood. It’s the same technique used for painting war gaming miniatures.
  5. I’m up to 60 rigging blocks now. I’m going to make about 40 more. Whatever I don’t use here, I will save for the Triton.
  6. I’m currently making a second generation of rigging blocks. These are much less blocky and inspired by some that I saw made here.
  7. The Cheerful looks like a really nice project. I am waiting on him to release his Winchelsea. That will be awesome!
  8. Yes, those were the dual main stays. Thank you for posting the picture. I’m glad to see that I guessed correctly on how I ran the stays.
  9. I’m having a lot of fun with this build. I’m working on finishing up preparing the ship and the yards to receive sails and the running rigging. I have the foot ropes installed and am installing the last round of blocks. I’m going to display the Prince de Neufchatel as running under full sail, which means that I have to make allowances for the studding sails as well. This means that I will have to install another round of blocks around the hull. I have all yards, booms and gaffs sitting on the deck in their approximate positions so I don’t get them confused.
  10. I always treat my models exactly like overgrown war gaming miniatures. I use the exact same painting and detailing techniques. I may or may not have learned to paint war gaming many years ago.
