  1. Thank you very much for the comments and the likes! I’m pretty happy with the color of the sail material that I’m using. I like the darker look, it looks more real to me. As for making the seams, a sewing machine is on my wish list. I used upholstery thread for the seams this time. Next time, I will use upholstery thread for the rigging and regular thread for the seams. I finished the fore top studding sails:
  2. I’m sorry to hear about the E. Coli. I went through that twelve years ago and it made me completely miserable for about six weeks. On the bright side, the Portland is looking good!
  3. I’ve had a lot of fun with the Prince de Neufchatel, so I’m looking forward to starting in on the Triton. I need to pick up a sheet of 1/4” (6mm) plywood for the bulkheads, but I have plenty of basswood for the planking and the underdeck. I’m sure that I’ll be buying more, but I have enough to get started. I just need to finish making the sails and installing the running rigging on the Prince de Neufchatel. Hopefully that will be done by August. Then I need to finish Victory, which will probably run me into next spring or summer, before I actually start cutting wood on Triton.
  4. I am building the Mantua version, and I had plenty of planking left over. I would imagine that the Corel version would be the same.
  5. Thank you all very much for all the likes and all the comments! Fore Top Gallant Sail is made! I’m making progress.
  6. I got my wire (granted it’s annealed steel), from a Habitat For Humanity ReStore thrift store. I think I paid $2-$3 for two different sizes in spools.
  7. Both Gaff Sails and all Main Staysails are done, along with the Main Top Royal Sail. Note: All sails will be billowed by spray starch and the Admiral’s hair dryer prior to installation.
  8. Very cool! Looking forward to seeing the Sapphire’s build!
