Thanks Greg. Still a long way to go. Currently remodelling the forard superstructure, a.o. the bridge. I won't be able to get her all the way into Glowworm, but I'll try to. Rangefinder and it's control are up ... alternated by some mind blowing PE ... the grill on the funnels, one down, one to go ... although a bit early in the build, I suddenly started to put some antifowling red on the deck ...

Couldn't recall where I read the measurement information, but now you gave the title ... it all falls back into place .. I've got the same book! There is a wealth of information in it, a lot of joinery which is fascinating - at least I find it so - sliding doors, moon doors, lattice work, garden fences ... Pitty the book is OOP for those interested.

Following kit instructions ... you call that fun ... ? So far there has been one challenge: Getting the hull plating to show at this scale. Before that,:To glue or not to glue ... now ripping things up, and adding components, makes it start to look almost like a scratch build a bit of a basratch build It starts to cool down - I know Greg: Tain't 'alf 'ot 'ere - so tonight I'll get my rattle can of flat varnish out and give Vendetta and the two Japanese subs a coat. After drying, the subs get a gloss coating on their balast tanks to make them look whet-ish for some realism when I get on a diorama ... I'm visualising palmtrees , a sandy bay, white beaches, tropical drinks ........ and two moored subs ... whats wrong in this picture

Again thanks for the likes and the comments! CLeared the deck with the molds to stick the platform on. primed a couple of parts, funnels, base of the forard "super"structure, 4.7" guns (inside, and bottom), replaced the bollards, and fairleads. I'll try tomake a picture with the difference kit vs detail up. I'll need to build a searchlight tower, and change the bridge's rear section. Going to have some fun ... that's for certain

Would that be logical ... It is odd as they seem to be the result of the mezza lune technique. But how would you make a fluent hull shape if you did use them ...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
