Thanks Kevin, but far to expensive. I looked at aussie ebay - since RGL got his at just AU$ 100 - and found a kit in France(!) for a mere 148.00 Euro, and 18.90 postage. Nevertheless, thanks for mentioning it.
-
I have been looking for that kit, I already bought the hospital ship - Hikawa Maru - but couldn't find this one anymore on fleabay. Lucky man. I bought the 1:700 fo make a diorama at that scale with those two subs I showed in my previous post.

Ah, you sneaky ozzie, a few new builds in one. Curious as to how you do your paint exercise ... what's the goal?
-
You are quite apt with PE on this scale, Mike. I don't know if I could do it so well. Lovely details, those runners around the stags are always a pain to add even at larger scales. Concerning your colour question, you could try something like British Off White grey-ish instead of the brownish the British is. Either use a drop of black in white paint, but you might need to much white to compensate. You could use some light/middle grey or greyish-blue to mix with white. I found that most Japanese war ships tend to be some tone of grey, never white. That is my two cents Again, lovely build, especially since resin is not very forgiving

always something to complain, you sound like a Dutchman (Hollander). If you hadn't told us we wouldn't have noticed the misalignment, actually most of us still don't! Yet another beautiful build. Nice threesome, mate
-
You shouldn't put yourself down so much, you wouldn't finish with a half built ship. When I look at how many ships RGL has done so far ... and I admit, he has a feel for it too! Still it would be really weird if he'd stop now ...

How are things going 'arry. I haven't been on the form for quite some time. Still not modelling since I moved to last February. Gawd it takes such a long time to get things sorted out. Still looking for modelling tools and materials. Missing parts from models which I already prefab'd, and are now somewhere in the black hole of moving ... Did you get your belt yet? Cheers mate

Didn't see the Eskimo finished, really beautiful result on both Tribals. I will add a third to my set some time as it is in my stash to be built. Lovely result Greg, the 3D printed parts do make a difference. Will most likely be expensive enough to get it from NZ to Europe as you mentioned it to be the other way around for e.g. paints and such

A jigsaw is easier, mate. Won't the railings be a tad hard to reinstall, at least to get them straight again?
-
or you tell them to hold on to the railing, and hope for continuous strong winds from starboard ...
-
You seem to deal with them rather nicely, though ... any particular items which bother you in your sleep?
-
Post WWII which excludes V&W class destroyers for the Prairie and Masker systems, I cannot imagine that system being used on them. Furthermore, it would have been mentioned in J. Edgar's "British Destroyers", I presume - I can always be wrong. Although, I haven't noticed it at all while reading on the V&W and Tribal class destroyers.

Already it looks smooth like a baby's bum! Admitted, a very violent baby. What putty did you use?
-
Make a start on proper painting 🤔 What have you been doing so far with your models? Sloppy painting?
-
You seem to deal with those painful gaps quite well, mate. Besides ... there is always putty
-
Eventhough I'm still getting sorted out - sold my house November last, and get my works space in order - kits are being added to my stash. Some are still in storage, so I wonder if I do have enough space left for those when those are added to the stash present ... I might send you one, RGL, if you get bored waiting for kits ...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
