Very nice Håkan, very nifty building stand too. (IT ... yes I know, they can't leave us be enjoy our hobby somehow )

He can either chrome them himself, I know someone did that on this forum. Or use a chrome paint from AK or a rattlecan from e.g. Tamiya, or the chrome pen of Molotow (I used the latter on a damaged door handle in my Jaguar) [edit] Look here

I don't like it, sorry, just like the unnecessary hype to ruin history all over the globe by a certain group. You do not need to like history but it defines where you come from. If you deny that, you deny who you are.

Merci Gaetan! -
Feliz año nuevo, Amalio. Looking forward to this year's beautiful work from you.

Welcom from your native country, Ruud. You'll find enough instructions in the database of the NRG, and if you start a log, good advice from many members here at MSW.

Very nice details Geatan. (a happy, and healthy New Year too) I know to prepare a sheet metal frying pan for first use I used to heat it up with a layer of salt in the bottom. I reused the salt for that purpose only - a chef taught me. I know sheet metal won't dissipate heat quickly, athough aluminum will - which they didn't have at that period of time - and stone keeps(/stores) the warmth for to long as well. The salt probably is a required buffer to protect the wood from the stone's heat. I wonder how much space is between the stones and the wooden crate(?) of the oven. Why did you use the boats instead of the ship to prepare the lighting (#824)? -
Oy 'arry, 'appy new year mate. Yes, PE can be a pain in the hiney ... I switch blades quite regularly, and use two types No 11 and 24 from Swann-Mortonn, just to make certain I can cut the PE and not distort it. Don't use old blades, you'll regret it - Eduard will like you if you keep on ordering new sets though . You are making good progress Cheers

Hmmm, I would calculate it to take at least seven and a half years ... Choosen a display box yet? Don't start to late with that, or you won't find her back under the dust when you finished that She really looks lovely!

Mentioning Piet, he let me know he and Gwen are doing fine, he has unfortunately little time at present to tend to his modelling needs, but wanted to be remembered to all.

Nothing new there. Why should they, now they can invent another attachment to sell at most likely an even higher price

Very nicely done Remco. I'm working on ships, cars, and planes in plastic currently and you are doing fine. For some additional info on painting, finishing, and such you might find PLASMO on youtube a good source of information, he's quite versatile. I learned a few tricks from him too. The Ford GT40 and Ferrari P4 330 are good for painting info, his motor cycles ... well, I leave that up to yourself to decide Merry Xmas, extend my wishes also to your father

I thought you took quite some time to set up shop. These trials and trebulations are not something I expected. I hope you will find a fitting position, and get your life back on track. I wish you and your father Merry Christmas, and a Happy, & healthy New Year. Let us enjoy your plastic builds in a build log as suggested by others, maybe I can learn some more from you to use on my plastic builds. Take care, and good hunting

Interesting ship, Dan, definitely follow this one close. With the shape one would expect it to submerse (partly)

Yes, try to get the PE glued to the plastic not the paint. It will make life easier on you!

Turned out rather well, especially for a first time build. Next one will be easier, if you do not have to much PE

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
