  1. Thank you very much Denis, I`m pleased you like it... when reviewing my own pics, I noticed that one of the anchor cables was laid wrong in wrong direction on to the spill. ... The corrective action was quite fiddely this afternoon, I had to untie the counter stopper knot from under the grating in the bow deck. With help of a hook-like bent wire finally I got hold of the short cable end behind the stopper knot, under deck and through the fore mast deck hole, loosened it and so could rigg the anchor cable correctly without installing a new cable. I actually wanted to start with the 6 swivel guns mounted on posts today, but now have to shift that action to a later point this week.... Nils
  2. wonderful work Amalio, I very much like the taking of shots below dech with help of a mirror, smart idea.... Nils
  3. Update : mounted the quarter deck stairs with handrails and rail-posts and connected to the balustrade... Nils
  4. very nice work with the hull Don, the planking looks nice and neat... Nils
  5. Small Update : shaped the main mast bits, made the anchor posts and a containment box for the spill spars, also rigged the anchors Nils
  6. Many thanks for your input Ken, I`ll keep this in mind for tzhe next model with "aluminium foil riveting...." Nils
  7. Wonderful work Keith, a real classy launch for a top classy yacht, looks awesome !! Nils
  8. Thanks very much Keith, I completed the pumps today, mounted discharge tubes for getting water in direction of gratings and away from the operators feet. Also started with the bits at fore- and main mast. The horizontal members are dry fitted in in order to get the correct allignment. Nils
  9. Smart way of making the upper deck Moxis, the additional reinforced epoxy resin gives a very good hold .... Nils
  10. Hi Piet, Sorry, I must apologize for not pushing out a seperate log, as the pinnace was somehow a "side build" over the months last year, and there was a time when I thought to scrap it, because so fiddely, did`nt think it was worth a log, and if it would ever work out as intended...... , so it went to the shelf.... Besides That I was so much engaged with the completion of my KWdG, and then came the preperation phase of the Chebec..... I have here a comparison of the ship sizes, here my HMS Pegasus 1:64 in the background, total length appr. 800 mm and the Chebec EOA with 900 mm over all, but in scale 1:48 Nils due to the difference in model scales the actual smaller Chebec wih dummy bow sprit appears to be much longer
  11. Good morning Piet, thanks for your kind words, much appreciated. Here is the name giving stern-decoration for the EOA.... And also the boats pinnace has found its place on the foredeck Nils The ships boat will be a 27 Ft longboat / pinnace after F.H. Chapmans Chart PIXLI figure #14 (Architectura Navalis Mercatoria), scaled to 1:48 The pinnace is capable of carrying 6 oarsmen, the helmsman and one passenger (not shown here) the boats front rest support was a card dummy at this time
  12. Hi Christos, have a look here..., this should help... http://www.home.foni.net/~agondesen/tauwerk.htm Nils
  13. Hello Christos, thanks for your words, much appreciated... the anchor cable I`m using is from source "Morope", its Polyester of which I had enough leftover from my "HMS Pegasus" build... Nils
  14. Thank you very much Bob, I liked the 4-hands lever handle, it fitted well for 1:48 with self designed center-support, the pump castings themselves were out of scale and go to the bin..... Nils
  15. Hi Antony, I just had a look again at some sequences of the build log, and I must say, its an exciting ride.... I also like the the own set obligations you mentioned in your introduction ( no paint, etc..., ) lovely build !! Nils
  16. Update : the place on deck is becoming scarce and I wanted to fit two elm-tree pumps (bilge water up and out ).... so the decision was to fit two tubes down through the decks but to fit a common double pump on it. The outlet chanels are still missing. Further the port side anchor cableis rigged to the spill and the preliminary bit timbers at the foremast.... The boat rests above the spill on the two cradle racks and anchor cables Nils
  17. Thank you Antony, its fun since begin on doing the chebec, and there is still so much to do.... Nils
