  1. I realised its a pitiful slight on her without All that tall splendor, and taking advantage of scale i Can to the detail Ed portrayed on young America. Not his quality of course but i have place to learn Few tricks from there and from you od course. Ill be updating here and there so stay tuned ..v.
  2. nice clean work Rob as alwyas. one question guys. I believe glory didint carry stunsl sails and therefore her yard arms didnt have eyes for it , correct? or ? thanks much. Vlad
  3. Shaping yards... Observing American yards, center thickness of yard reaches quite up far toward end and than rather suddenyl more sharlpy narrows Down maintaining Elegant line. . I tried to mimic that, Well more and at some less sucessfully. Still Few of them remained to be worked. Had to join one with inner steel wedge - noone would know ) And then - funny part starts thank you for any remark etc...
  4. @ClipperFan Rich based on this painting Looks like she was some time rigged with only one big topsail instead of two narrow ones - same as flying fish. just an observation though... https://www.vosegalleries.com/works/glory-of-the-seas-at-singapore
  5. Thanks as always Rich, yep I already noticed that. some yards for M &F as well i think. it will be my first complete complex masting rigging, but i think its far easier than pre 1800 rigging - in teems of less messy roping etcetera - with helps of casted iron many structural parts that made rope on some places obsolete and with help of chains as well. its messy because of enormous sails but pretty much males a lot more sense than on warships on 1700 - 1800 era.
  6. good day Rich and humbly thank you for a compliment. Yeah i decided to move on and finish her hopefuly at some day- year. scale allows me to go with dwtails on that thing. so i ll be shaping and assembling all the yards ( which is pretty quick ) masts and so on when i have time. not sure how often but i usually work on batch of things so some weekends and so on. thank fro stopping by stay tuned. Her sailing profile is quite something, large long yards two topsail yards and so on...:) asking forgivness ofsome derail of authentic vigour, i wont do composite masts - it requires massive patience time consuing and skill and tools i dont have. im becoming alergic to wanky looks so i woulnt stand less than top outcome of that thing and its not i can do. i intend to leave masting and yard natural varnished fo sake of visibility of every bands details etc...or natural masts black yeards i dunno yet i quite like jubboom natural though...well stop talking lets go working on her by evenings. plenty to look fwd to. V.
  7. Oh Frank, even it doesnt seem believe me late chapters are just quicker - believe me - all rpecious tedious work paid off - stage is set - so you just add bits now to places that were worked very slowly and long long....its relaxing reward compared to what had to be done under visible coat hull preparation planking etc. I look to it that way. most interestingly, now surprisingly even i do it for myself, for first time lately entire family keep coming to see winnie here and there just saying wow wow and asking what will come next . even i still dont have rudder attached figurehead and stern ornamentals as its nearing beautiful details on the top their interest is immense. I can only imagine visual beauty of finished vessel with chapter 10, bow and blocks installed. its worth patince as All these chapters with fancy railings are like putting on jewellery on dressed lady, so its getting better and better each step. credit goes to Chuck with his excellent design and excelently cut material he provides. monographs navigation etc, to ensure people not having previous experience wont ruin that beauty.
  8. Thanks Rusty. Exactly, i like everoynesA bit different depiction or slight subtle color variations.
  9. Happy new year Folks. I worked on chapter 9 and 10 preparations over christmass time. I see its sold out already but ill wait when Chuck restocked it or maybe even for chapter 10. My ugly duck Will look different from yours as I decided not to proceed with planking along Wales ! Only in center . The reason IS i want to leave knees Fully exposed, but i do want to install Few guns on q deck so i Will make very small Partial decks only under two or there guns just underneath IT. ! I have it on papier i Will post the idea. So far i again sanded knees after installation and finished corner planks , or whatever they are called. I was thinking a lot about how to proceed and im Happy with this decision as beams are natural hull color and deck IS cherry so i sorted IT púť this way and mismatcu would veď to much. This looks mi uniform together I think.
  10. Fantastic depiction of Great republic Rob and wow glory Will be masted soon. It once again gives me proof and goosebumps that true treasures and highligts of these Giant vessels are not in there body but All in thier Sphisticated rigging and mightly sails views ! Instead of trying to move Glory away i should start of Fully rigging her and learning to make those beautiful sails! Then we have amusing continuation for Few years ahead Sorry try to hijack thread Rob, pic of her Lines Once again. And i Made new proper big Cabin planked roof over christmass - weathered. Still commited to her.
  11. @Rich, @Rob, Dear Friends, I decided I have small favor to ask you in benefit of Glory of the Seas herself and our joined commitment itself I believe. As much as I love Glory herself I want her to be in her homeland so that AS many people Can see her hull in her true form and participate in and her history wrote so magnificently and so sorrowfulpy at the end. For sake of IT so as many people Can see her, I already wrote an email to Boston maritime and i plan to wrote to San Francisco museum as I believe those two towns have strongest Bond to any clipper of era. As I dont think I have rights and i dont own right to work I consider we All Made, I decided to do IT merely as a donation. Im not asking more than symbolic 500 usd - for full one year of extensive labor plus insured shipping. I would not sleep Well if i hang her on ebay , that idea IS far and cruel to me as I would Keep her myself rather. but if you knew someone who could value appreciate her truest form yet reconstructed with help of Michael Mjelde yet unseen photographs and as i Will always be proud with building with such authorities as Rob W and Richard Jones are on the subject ! and Can appreciate true meticulous boxwood detailing of Captian Cabin true moldings ornamentals and proper planking strakes and her coppering, All true deck details AS various molded Sheeran and Lines ... Food sake of future generations please kindly let me know. I owe you both, sincerely Vlad
  12. Happy new year Rob ! wow breathtaking pics. i cant believe these two are in same scale that difference is massive. She must have been a titanic like for crew and would have been a vision .
  13. Promised glory vs cutty sark deck & bow outline shape comparison. Though Revell cutty stern IS plain incorrect. But doesnt matter atm.
  14. Rich my heart says yes and yes to both but I dont assume I will have such free time this year as I happened to find myself in spring and summer last year. it was rare coincidence of stars :)) . i wish to help most likely by some evenings. but first i need to get rid of glory :))) joking. well I promised to family that i wont build or bring home another boat till previous one is gone. tough life. with another frigate reaching final stage, I promised them to leave some place in house for living by the way where is your NRJ article ? :)))) joking. V.
  15. Gentlemen, I took out glory model and watched her profile yesterday after some time for a while and her uniqueness fascinated me again. this time especially her very short bow profile - that thick arrow - very very promptly fattening up towards her thick wide lines beauty beast indeed. I smiled at her thinking how much she tortured us she shows off with her sleek lines and long stern cabin in every moment. not speaking of Robs continuation - with all the tall splendor...i stand her along with Cutty sark yacht and must say they cant be more different in every possible aspect from top to the bottom. but i am McKay convert though still 3 days but...Wishing Everyone happy New year and good health in 2022!
