  1. Thank you for kind words and help - pointing to right direction Rich. I was able to Lower IT and lowered base as Well that i think helper tremendouslyi think. Deck arose and back of hatch is approx Windlass size. Im summig Up deck. One interesting thing. Fór a long tíme i felt there IS something odd, disturbing eyesight with my glory that put me off, distracted me a way that there was not cohesion.. some element that destroys natural harmony of colors and structures special comparing when looking at Robs Glory. I never figured out what IT IS until today and It came by surprise. That upper Windows and Doors at deckhouse were the cause - disbalance between natural color wrongly put black that l doesnt belong there...etc...- I tried to uniform IT with white and wow, i think glory came to life.it was Simple untreated baswood with black rounds were a long that was disturbing element. I noticed dramatic change after only started to paint itT white...like..wow ... Gottcha..apology fór many pics. . I tried to take AS many photos of new deck and completed full deck. IT was difficult than hull fór me. weak point. Now she demonstrates different look . IS IT more Elegant isnt it. What do you think guys? Also i updated Few missing things. Inserted center rims into captain Cabin Windows !, And painted hatch, and Few little details, as Rob use to say Devil IS in details. So door handles were added, other All things, chimneys.... Im done. I decided not to mount ramp fór boats as there Will be not any ať the back - only on the top of big house. i Now i Will come back to yards and that Will be it, fór Few month, ready fór rigging. . I must say i like her Better now despite imperfection and thats important fór me. Thanks much fór observation. I want to improve one thing - skylight with proper glass Windows in IT Will see...now She should be sound. hope you enjoy. Before: Now: ...rest
  2. Probably if i Made hatch going Lower lower toward back síce IT wouldnt block deck view i Will see if i Can change IT... Few new pics. Mast boots, front fife, etc...Windlass handles bars socket i longer than should. Masts are secured so they Can be taken out from their Holes, after ungluing boots. Still Few things missing, big ramp across deck holding lifeboats, lifeboats itself, chimneys and davits and eyebolts secured ať deck. Fiferails were strongly fitted as front one holds thickest of All ropes, main stay. Ať this point each Lower masť IS secured , ready fór rigging. I Will go Up partially Taking advantage of having správe arouund and a ability to mount each mast continually. But thats Still faraway. After finishing deck ill go finishing yards and that Will be it fór some time. ...
  3. Thanks for comment Rich. i was awaiting and expecting this exact observation. No need to be alarmed. I worked it out exactly from this pic and from companionway measurement Michael provided. its exatly fiferail tall. problem that is bothering you we both with Rob have unfortunately low quarter deck therefore when taking pics it all looks bigger than should as bow deck is approx 2 or 3 milimeters low than should and that makes quite a big visual difference obviously. i was pointing this already many times...i will oost pic with alread finished front fiferail ....
  4. Thanks much Rob, this was getting to fairly small objects territory, Im getting used to work with with surgical clamps more and more and expanding my dioptric lenses 😕
  5. update. Hatch. Capstans, windlass, stairs.... Now IS no longer empty...Still Few Minor things missings....front fife rail, and then moving to back where lifeboats were stored.... Will be next chapter. Took ok me 5 hours to make hatch. Ouch. Thanks for viewing, comments etc...
  6. Rob, it looks very very good, far better now, i really like tiny ridges along that really makes your brain think that its sail furled. enjoy the monotony tour
  7. fine work Bill congrats on planking, welcome to clippers " gang". Enjoy the build. Vlad
  8. oh my goodness this happens to me always. just when i finish 2 of them working my *** up what a beautiful pics. thanks for posting Rich. @ Rob, thanks you are way too much praising my poor modeling, speak up any remark you have! but i see you yourself modeler understand fragile modeler selfesteem when somethings done - but wrongly.:) speaking of spars etc... when I return to them, I indeed plan to varnish them black. masts only between caps and tops, rest leaving natural. i already tried to paint one black. I a bit struggle with what to do with all brass work - whether to leave it or to blacken it. i would blacken it but not sure of result . will see. Rob is it true that all standing rigging is utterly competely black? Lanyards as well? it was not practise in cutty sark as i remember but i think it was american tradition, correct? after finishing davits, and deck working stuff First i will next focus on footropes , have to think what i want to achieve what i am capable of and im not sure what i can do. i read that vertical strings are better made of wire as they keep it in place and not twist than rope...decisions decisions. i will have to try some samples before and will post result . oh by the way, speaking of futtocks, were those already wire at that time? i wish :)) i read some article from Crothers yesterday, about bilge wheels spokes. they were S shape before for reason of cooling down and not only for aesthetic. i didnt know. i thought it wad only fashion thing. glory had S shape. Balcultha ones were not that design anymore because sookes were fastened with screws therefore straight. i suppose ... V.
  9. :)) Guys you act like you dont know me by now :)) I told when I work I work, and nothings gonna stop my sleeples nights. its probable that i will stop again at some point - which i will before rigging - as i want to use up february...from march ...spring here and i wont get to her till next autmun:) and noone would make me continue for another half year so better like this. besides, there is one ugly thing with yards - repetition. you have 17 times theme on same song again and again and again. So i put it this way- lets go so it can be over. at this moment i stopped doing eyelets for yard stays - and i ordered ones that are made so i can speed up. but dont worry, I have already headache how to proceed with footropes....to what hardcore extend to soow me rapidly down :)) ....:( and from there , it will take at elast whole year so next autumn to assemble ropes and blocks and to rig her...so i better speed now this sort of repetitive work while i can :)) its been alreaedy reaching 2nd year in a making now , and I want to see her finished Alive! :)) @Teaser ....I know its very hard to please Rich at this point by anything mediocre or sloppy now as he is on a watch not let any wrong vague or simply bad measurement slip thru to ruin her fame :)))))) and i applaud. thats how it should be ..) i will be at total ease when making capstans :)) where noone guesses or knows what it was. :)))
  10. Im enlightened by your knowledge folks. Always Great deal of reading for me. I Will tease you now, but please dont make aby assumptions out of this pic. There IS nothing fastened Twisted correctly etc..not straightened... i was just trying fit and lusted for what impact would IT make on me...it was everything moved down in 5 minutes. Which IS advantage of working with working collars etc. ..Boat itself dissapeared under that trees of rigid timbers. Quite different look than only body of ship..:) took me 1 Month to build IT Up ...Spencer and spanker left...top mizzen royal IS not attached. so far most enduring work.
  11. Thanks for clarifying Rich. Totally makes sense. yes they were behemoths. Im just scratching modeling surface but i totally understand now that seing one leaving port must have been a occasion to go for...i bet for us "romantics" of an era Im left sithout any emotion to see modern mammoth comnerce vessels harboring ...maybe titanic being the last to make me wow...,:)
  12. Thanks Rich, Rob very helpful. to show my uneducation I assume those davits were stored somewhere and mounted ( or stuck in the collars etc) when needed ? or it would not be possible and those were in place all the time? that would ruin aesthetic of the boat as i never seen such on other photos of boats.... as photo goes, i love it not only for davits & mckays vessel but for different reason - typical anerican western wagon or cart with horses next to it. what a coincidence - it is my next dream to model as model shipways has one beautiful :). watching at these early very rare photos - at the dawn of photography gives me shiver as it is not paint but photographed reality - so we can see it real - not imagined - it is quite clear that we are people trapped in time wrap and our misfortune is fact that we are destined not to live there but from love of it to recreate past . I bet if someone constructed time machine, there will be plenty of folks, drinking beer and talking next to wharfed glory of the seas and i would love to stand next to her with jaw dropped so low staring at her figurehead unable to speak and Rich and Rob smiling at me albeit being some 30 years younger fella.
  13. @ClipperFan @rwiederrich Gentlemen, I have question to ask please. Boat gallows was installed from the beginning IS IT correct? And lifeboats were positioned ať the Captian Cabin overhang where i have now rail...hmm hmm .. I think i Will install only gallow and put Boat on big forward Cabin as long as i dont want to cover Cabin details....or only one. Will see. Do we have pic how davits were installed? From inside of Boat? I would like to make those AS Well. Thanks much indeed , Vlad
  14. Thanks for comment and fine images Rich, i see those cylinder are a bit different but im glad i depicted overall shape and function. I dont have tools working skills and capacity to go with tremendous details at his scale to make it aby different i Guess. I need to have run doing IT and i had fun thats good enough fór me. Little from yards closure mechanism roupded from one piece. ..I try to keep rounded and Elegant. No hilarious details fór me AS leathered inside etc...i like IT this way enough...:) Simple opening Works like a charm. 3 done 7 more to go.... Exhausting
  15. Thank you Rob. oh ok, I relied on Michael Mjelde drawing in book. I will move it out sure. always better to compare photos with pics thanks V.
  16. Thanks Rich. I left rigging aside fór a moment and returned to deck. continue with improving stuff on the deck...lifeboats etc... I started with fife rail and bilge pump. ditched old poor one. I tried if i Can make one very simple, without soldering, here IS the outcome.. Nothing special but hopefully Will do the trick. Fife rail was quite complex build around columns as i wanted IT to be rigid as possible. they were Made solid as hell... .thank you
  17. Hamlet question. to be or not to be...sailrig or only standing &running. sails or not sails furled or spread:) Im slowly thinking this ahead of time counting blocks needed etc... seeing Rob is already making furled sails. What I would like to achieve is to have her partially sailed, something like towing out to open sea from the ports....topsails spread and rest furled... but at the same time i definitely want to avoid entire mess of full sail blocks attqched though. simplest idea to achieve that is going for only standing&running at most...but as wanted to have few sails up and others furled im not sure i can avoid that ...well anything can be done at least full sails must be rigged properly to show but empty yards with furled sails on them i could spare unused blocks what do you think? this are inspirations im more less after.
  18. Now Robs alchemy comes to play doesnt iť? what is it? it looks like dough to me:)) looking good though. will you paint it etc?
  19. Bob, thanks for input. I have Crothers book. I wouldnt say its that hard to find in europe. Is widely availble from what I see. Although I was dissapointed with so called hard copy. I dont recommend it over paperback. its more expensive and book is not sawn just simply paperback with hard cover glued over it. i was angry for that.
