Kusawa2000 reacted to Stuntflyer in HMS Winchelsea 1764 by Stuntflyer (Mike) - FINISHED - 1/4" scale
For the most part, chapter eleven is finished. As I mentioned earlier, the lantern is still removable. but, that's it.
Without any adjustment the forward stock will angle out. I undercut the inner face and tapered it in order to make it sit more upright, basically perpendicular..

Just a quick follow up on my last post. I changed the position of the fancy rail after realizing that I originally placed it incorrectly.

I still have a lot more work to do on chapter 11. Here is generally where I am at as of today. Both main and mizzen channels are done (almost). Notice that the forward two chainplates are not attached to the hull. I'm going to remove that moulding where the second ladder goes. This will make it easier to both install it as well as shape the moulding that goes around it. All of the stools are in.

Hi all,
Well the trip was wonderful, it's over and back to work. Progress has continued on chapter 10 with the quarter deck
hatches placed and the deck planked. Pretty much a repeat of the fcastle. A lot of dust to clean up and paint
to touch up though.

Everyone: Some progress. It was such an enjoyment being able to have bulkheads fit with a minimum of trouble. Now time to make some sawdust and fair the bulkheads. And with snow on the ground here in the Yukon, I look forward to a lot of time with the Winchelsea

Kusawa2000 reacted to yvesvidal in HMS Bellona by yvesvidal - FINISHED - CAF Model - 1:48
A quick update on the Quarterdeck, with a small improvement and modification of the original kit: The National Maritime Museum model presents a nice molding above the rear bulkhead.
That molding is not present in the CAF Model kit and I wanted to add it:
I used one of the 2 x 2 mm strips in the Session #4 box and after scrapping it with the correct shape, came up with this sandwich. Instead of the sub-floor going directly against the balusters/columns, I think it offers a little bit more realism for the stern of that ship.
You can see (above) how the molding is placed: a 2 x 2 strip sitting on top of the bulkhead and a 2 x 2 strip scrapped and glued to it. It does not cover entirely the top of the balusters, but once the top deck is in place, it will be impossible to see that.
Because of the introduction of that decorative molding, the top deck is raised by another 2 mm. At that point, the beams supporting the top deck must be raised to accommodate the change:
This is easily done by placing a 2 mm thick piece of wood on top of the elbows, supporting the beams:
Once everything is sanded smooth and cleaned, the poop deck fits nicely with just a slight curvature to eliminate the standing water:
Note that the installation of these beams is part of the last Session #5.
Overall view of the rear section and quarterdeck:
Time to move back to the Gallery and the bow. Thank you all for your comments and encouragements, as they are very much appreciated.

Kusawa2000 got a reaction from BobG in HMS Winchelsea 1764 by Kusawa2000 (Mike Draper)
Hey Everyone: After a long haul (12 years) I have finally finished my Agamemnon. While I know this doesn't have much to do with building the Winnie, for me I just want to post a few pictures so I can put her on the "done" pile. Now I am keen on getting started with the Winnie after watching everyone work on her for the last year or so.
In addition to the pictures of the Agamemnon I have included a few pictures of my progress so far. I have managed to get the stem assembled and tapered to fit the figurehead as well as get the bulkhead plate assembled and have the rabbet tapered and in place with the stem glued. But before I move ahead with working on the keel at the stern end of the hull, I do have one question for the "Winnie vets". The chapter talks of the false keel being a plank of wood 1/16" x 1/4". Now with the wood package I can only find one piece of wood that fits that description. Am i missing something? Everything I read indicates there is more than one plank but I can only find one. If I have to mill something I dont have a problem doing that I just wanted to see if I was overlooking something. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

I think that is what I may do as well. I do have some leftover pieces that can easily be milled. Thanks for the followup.
