Cheers for all the kind comment everybody! Like I said before your builds are a big inspiration for me and helps for inspiration and how to do things. Keith, Im glad you like it. I love the red Wasa with polychrome sculptures, but imo its easy to get the red and yellow to feel disharmonic, I had to redo the red a couple of times. I try to get a muted natural look when mixing colors, like blood red and bone yellow and sky blue. Mark, thats a lot of figures. I forgot that I will add the small sculptures on the gallery sides/windows when I guessed how many I need to paint. /Matti

Good job, looking forward to see the emperors and Gustav Adolf (the lion) in place! /Matti

Hey all! Painted and mounted the Gideon soldiers and the bigger tritons on the galleries. As before I sanded them thin and reshaped them. I ended up with two soldiers more than I needed so I could add them to the stern row, Im happy I could do that as it ties the back and sides together and looks more like the real ship. Getting closer to finish the galleries. Ive counted how many figures Ive painted and stoped at 150. Im enjoyng it (once the towers were done) but now Im looking forward to start with the bow. /Matti

Thanks Buck and Wolf! I really like the polycrome look so the time it takes is worth it. /Matti

Tanks for all kind comments, all your builds are very inspiring! Ferit, glad you like the colors! I had to redo the tritons red and blue a few times. Nigel, Id love to see you have a go. I guess youd end up doing a lot of sculpture carving. Norske Love is a nice ship. Cheers Jan! Thanks Mikhail! I hope you could repair your Vasa model. Thank you Michael! Yeah, Vasa has many angles and lines meating up there. My galleries should have been slightly curved, but I couldnt pull that off. Thanks Sherry and Frank! /Matti

Hey all! Did some progress on the gallery sculptures. I try to get a slightly uneven look of them like the placement on the original ship, that I think looks very full of life and almost organic. I sanded and reshaped the figures quite alot to get a better fit and look more in scale with the model. (Still need to repaint some details after gluing them on the ship.) /Matti

Thank you Michael. I did enjoy making the wood structure of the galleries, but the sculptures was tense to make, as there are many things that can go wrong making and gluing them. Good thing is that I now got better at it so the rest of them will go smoother. /Matti

Thanks Nigel, and thank you for the idea of the soldering iron! I can only imagine doing this without the control of it... /Matti

Cheers Frank and Andre! Just noticed theres bakingsoda on the pic. Its pretty easy to get rid of with a dry brush. /Matti

Phew, finally got the tower sculptures in place. I didnt really enjoy the process, but looking at the result feels nice. I repainted the ones on the starboard side, as I needed to mute them more. The soldering iron worked great and after a few I learned how the plastic behaves.Sanding the sculptures thinner was also important as it got them more in scale and made it easyer to shape them. /Matti

Thanks Buck! Looking forward to see what youll do with your Wasa, and hoping for a replica of her state today. /Matti

Cheers Mark and Michael! The hull and the red is painted in different ways. The hull is not done with washes but a mixed stain as basecoat, then pastel powder and acrylics are added in layer. A lot of sanding to make it blend and vibrant and once in a while a clear coat of acrylic varnish to get the pastel powder to become one with the rest. The red is different nuances on the planks before gluing them on. Some washes on the galleries. /Matti

That is looking nice and authentic Michael. Dont worry about the framings, its still looking geat. Im sure every builder has something they changed their mind about later in the build. /Matti
