Nice build you have going.I built this kit many years ago. From the looks of your kit Mantua must have totally redesigned the kit since I did mine. Mark

Hello Michael. This is how I made the holes for the upper handrails - I first drilled the holes just slightly smaller than the square posts & then used a very small square file to partially square them until the posts were a snug fit.The holes are not perfectly square but you would need a magnifying glass to see it.Somewhat tedious work but it turned out nicely.

I see you have the same problems I do - build it & then tear it out & try to rebuild it correctly . Mark

Great work Matti! I just counted my stern figures - 192. I am also working on the bow figures.

Awesome rigging! Looks like I may need to spring for some of Chuck`s blocks when I get to that point.

Thanks everyone for looking in.By the way I know the upper round gunports look crooked but they are level with the deck.

Starboard hand rails done!also added some nice black nails to the wales - seems to add a little character to the hull to me.

I am building my Sergal kit with the same attitude as you - my kit has the same issues with the sculptures as yours.Keep on doing what you`re doing - looks great.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
