put the filters on the suction side of the fan and draw the air through them. That is what I do when sanding and seems to work pretty good. I just use a cheap window box fan.

Love the way you done the base. Very well done on the build, and your log will come in so handy for future builders....and myself....on the triton.

As far as getting the taper, no trick that I know of just checking while sanding by eye. The futtock...treenail or simulated bolts? Comes down to how you want to do it yourself. Either way would look good and with yours being such a big scale the simulated bolts would look really nice, be much easier at this scale, but your choice.

Bookmark this page, really nice tutorial on how to. Will be real nice to reference back to this if I ever get to this point on my build. Great job. Thanks so much for all the information and how to in your build log.

Jim Byrnes Thickness Sander
Pete38 replied to Landlocked123's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
The hose I had was just a little small for the one in the thickness sander, I just wrapped some electrical tape around the hose for a snug fit. Works great and is alway easily removed or put baclk on.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
