BLACK VIKING got a reaction from Landlubber Mike in B17 Lil Audrey by Black Viking - Airfix 1-72
Hi all and thanks for the comments and likes
A bit more done the wings and tail fins have been fitted and the fuselage glue together.
I have dry brushed the whole aircraft to give it a worn look.
I have found out that she was hit by flack and number 2 engine caught fire but was put out quite quickly. It was replaced and a new cowl fitted but wasn't painted for a few weeks so I have shown this.
Just a little bit more to do then she will be complete.

The finish on the deck and hull sides is complete. I test fit the hull onto the display board with the supplied pedestals, which I stained with oak stain to match the display board. I had this board left over from a previous build but the ends were not beveled, so I cut bevels in the ends to match the sides. I have since stained the display board with oak stain to even up the color a bit and I will finish it and the pedestals with wipe on poly.
I found two plastic pieces that didn't get chromed - one of the exhaust ports and the cleat for the stern. I decided to try making new ones out of brass instead of using the plastic pieces. I have been watching this excellent class on soldering for jewelry making so I was eager to try out some of the techniques.

I made two new exhaust ports by soldering some brass tubing to circles of sheet. I am in the process of cleaning them up and will provide some pictures when they are done. I am also going to try making the cleat from some brass wire.

A few more progress, on the underneath of the Control room. All the resin has been poured and cured....
The floor of the Control room is now ready for the delicate assembly of all the parts, provided on two large sprues:
The main ballast has been filled with a little bit of sea water:
And here is the front fuel tank, with level matching the forward compartment's:
Overall, even at this stage, this is quite a heavy module with all this resin. I have dry-fitted both modules in the hull, and everything fits nicely and tightly. The resin, sometimes can enlarge so slightly the compartment and make it impossible to fit. Trumpeter did an excellent job at fitting these various modules into the hull. Matching and alignment is very precise.

BLACK VIKING reacted to Old Collingwood in Spitfire IX (Late Mark) by Old Collingwood - FINISHED - Eduard - 1/48
Hi all, right "Pictures-pictures-pictures" I did some light wet and dry sanding along the join seams (not a lot) then It was time to start on the lower wing section, this is a one piece unit except for the wing tips, fitted to this is a strut and weel well walls, these are made up in three sections each side, again very good fit and quality, to aid strength I ran some glue around the outsides.
I thought I would include a pic to show the excellent fine detail on the bottom of the wing - this is evedent all over the model.

Hello,
Upper shroud work is progressing nicely! Also thought I would include a bow shot, as well as a picture of the model when it was originally completed back in the late 1970's or early 1980's. Everything on the bow had to be scratch built.
Thanks,
Mark

The bulkheads and deck supports are glued in and I am working on the dummy cannon rails. I'll let this dry overnight and finish the hull framing tomorrow.

BLACK VIKING reacted to Edwardkenway in SBD-3 Dauntless 1:48 Hasegawa - Edwardkenway-FINISHED
Another day of lockdown and I'm glad to say the weather is quite decent so been outside sanding Winchelsea bulkheads. I've not forgotten about the dauntless but only doing little bits at a time so I've still got something to do in the coming days!
So the main landing gear has been fitted and I've attempted to make a paint mask for the canopy.
For the likes and comments I thank you. 👍
Cheers 😁
I'll post some photos of the canopy if it works out, but for now take my word for it that it is fiddly, frustrating and may get binned amid muttered cursing and hair pulling 🤬(scalp scratching)
