I just want to step back a bit and say the the carving in this topic is wonderful and also all the conversation about the methods, woods, and various bits of information in this area. Thanks for doing this and I'm looking forward to your next project.

Sad about the launch but the ship looks fantastic and this has been a joy to follow along.

I'm saddened to hear about this, Kevin. Dogs are family and for many, even closer in some ways. Remember the good times and love the new pup. The dogs know when we're sad and will help iwth healing though the missing them never goes away.

Haliburton,
That's a very impressive conclusion to the build. Very well done.
It got me wondering if the gunners used 'ear defenders'? But, from what I read online, it seems they weren't allowed to since they would not be able to hear orders.
Richard
PS: I worked besides a retired tank Commander for a while....and he had hearing aids.
I'd be surprised if after a few days firing they could hear anything. Not just tanks but any "noise makers".... jets, sidearms, MG's, etc. Many if not most of us who were in the military and especially combat zones end up with hearing aids.

Hmm... secret weapon type rockets... a variation of the Congrieve? The timing would fit per Wikipedia.

Thank you Keith, I just hope it will be a positive and successful journey .
Can I just create the LOG of the build by showing the box and then create a new post with the unboxing?
Yes, definitely. Then just add posts for the the unboxing and building.

Hi Micha,
I really don't have an answer with those two models as I've never done one. I hope someone else can provide an answer.

Micha, you might consider the three ship beginner series from Model Expo. It's designed by one our members here who's well known to modelers and will get through the basics of planking, and rigging in a step by step manner.

Thanks for the response. Fortunately I am a laser user already Ortur 10W. Just looking for more possible use.

I tend to believe the term "boxwood" is very generic and used for many woods that are not even close to the stuff we want. I remember seeing a wooden box for soda bottles and being told it was boxwood because that's the wood for boxes. It was a plywood box for crying out loud.

Looking for kit model or plans for Centurion 1732. Would also like to know if anyone has used a laser to build wooden ship models.
Thanks
I can't help with the planes but many of us are using lasers (so are the manufacturers). There's so many now on the market in all sizes and power levels compared to a few years ago.

What I would like to know, was Bertha really as big as she appears in the photo? She seems to dwarf her husband. Perhaps the name, "Big Bertha" was literal in more than one sense of the words. Look at the size of her hands! Sheesh.
That may be something we'll never know. Family secret? Here's two photos.I found.... I would say that she was probably taller than him. Welcome to MSW, Scott. I'd like to suggest that you open log here on MSW for the new kits. It's a great way to meet other builders from around the world and also it's great for getting help when you need it.

Peace and our prayers be with you Bob. From what you say, you're in good hands between the surgeon and first mate.

I was thinking the same thing as Glen. It's so different from the rest of the pack and stands out like a Ferrari in a parking lot full of VW's.

It does appear looking at the lower photo that the taller men were"in the middle".
