  1. Hi Michael, from time to time I keep looking at your construction report. I am also glad that you are bacck. Here is a wonderful model emerging. At this point I would like to thank you for showing us how you do the detailed work. I learned a lot from that and am looking forward to continuing in the new year. I wish you and your family all the best for 2020.
  2. Hi Andrey, making the gun barrel is very interesting. Without a lot of machines with simple tools you can achieve a precision that is astonishing. Thank you for showing us all of this in so much detail. By the way, your videos are fantastically well done. Looking forward to continuing your report in the new year. Therefore I wish you and your family all the best.
  3. Hi Rob, the rigging and the sails look fantastic. You are doing a really good job. Looking forward to the continuation in the new year. I wish you all the best for 2020.
  4. Hello, at this point I would like to thank everyone at the end of the year for interest and participation in my construction report. I wish you and your families a happy new year.
  5. Hello, before I attach the ratlines, I have to install the rope ladders in the bulwark area. There are two ladders per mast, one on the starboard side and the other on the port side. Here is a photo excerpt of the Parisian model of La Créole: Quelle: Musée de la Marine Paris – La Crèole The design on the Parisian model is probably not entirely based on the original, as the following photos from this era show. Therefore I believe that the rung goes through the rope and secured with a rope binding, as can be seen in the following picture. Who can give me more information about this?
  6. Hello friends of model making, another year has passed and you followed my project with interest. Therefore I would like to thank everyone warmly. With new energy and motivation, I hope we will continue to enjoy our hobby a lot. Merry Christmas and good wishes for the coming year.
  7. Hello, many thanks to all for the continued interest and your nice comments. Today I uploaded a video about the standing rigging. I hope that you like it. Please follow this LINK.
  8. Hello, meanwhile I made the various blocks with spliced Stropps.
  9. Hi, for the many nice comments, I thank you very much. It is a real pleasure to receive such a recognition. That encourages me to continue like this. Also for the many LIKES a big thank you. Continuation: Guide blocks inside the bulwark In addition to double blocks, a series of single and triple blocks must also be made as guide blocks for the bulwark. In contrast to the large single blocks with iron fittings (length 6.8 mm in the scale 1:48), the simple blocks with strops are much smaller copies with only 4.3 mm in length. That does not make splicing much easier. In this respect, the short splices are not as uniform as they have already seen. The next picture shows a single block in size comparison to a cent coin. Sequel follows …
  10. Hello, here I show a new Video of the current state of the model: LINK
  11. Hello Nils, a very nice model, what you have created there. I love these little details.
  12. @Dowmer Thanks for your nice words. A fine model, your long boat. On the model of the La Créole in the Musée national de la Marine Paris in 1:40 scale the mousing looks like this: Maybe I'll do it. Let's see.
  13. Hi Bob, Thank you very much for pointing out this tiny detail. Since the hooks are very small, it will be very difficult to do it properly. So I do not know yet if I'll do it.
  14. @Dubz @BETAQDAVE @druxey Hi, first of all, I would like to thank you for your interest. How I'm doing the hook, I explained elsewhere in the report. Here I show again the corresponding picture:
  15. Hello friends, here is the continuation to the production of block strops with splice:
  16. Hey Andrey, I've been watching your vidoes for some time now. You are a fantastically good model maker. You build extremely precise and with ingenious tricks you make the greatest details. I have already learned a lot from you, and I would like to thank you for allowing us to participate in your model making.
  17. Hello, at the moment I have little time for my hobby. Therefore only a short update. Here´s another try. I hope that I can do it with a reasonable amount of time. So it takes a little practice.
  18. Hi, thank you for the positive comments and the many LIKES. After a short break I continue with the double blocks 4.5 mm long. These were fastened along the bulwark at the height of the waterway. Source: B. Spinnen, Pariser Model So far I have glued the block strops. But that does not correspond to the original. So I tried to make the block strops with a splice. Here's the first try:
  19. Hello, thank you for the nice notes and the many LIKES. Before I continue with the ratlines I have to do the following: Along the bulwark of the French corvette, a series of blocks, serving for diverting, for example, halliards and other ropes, were hung in eyebolts. These blocks had iron fittings and hooks. I made them in a proven way.
  20. Hello Phil, thank you for your interest and the nice comment. Thanks to all the others for the many LIKES. For a change, I make in between blocks with fittings for the fore topsail sheets. These blocks are 32.5 cm long; in 1:48 scale, this is 6.8 mm.
  21. @Blackey I blacken the brass parts with Brass Black from Birchwood LINK. This works even with soldered parts.
