  1. Hi Mick. Many thanks for the endorsement! It's greatly appreciated. Hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful Xmas and 2015. All the best!
  2. Hi all. Just did a little bit more work on Mystic. This included adding another coat of thin paint to the dinghy's hull as well as Mystic's, doing some more work on the mast and boom and adding eyelets and blocks where appropriate. I've also added the windlass and located it on the foredeck. Hope you enjoy the photos! Cheers
  3. Hi Drazen Many thanks for the explanation and photos. The quality of the work is the mark of a talented craftsman, whom we can all learn from. Thanks and all the best.
  4. Hi Mick. The background does a great job of painting the history of the ship, whilst at the same complementing the ship beautifully. You should be justifiably proud of what a great job you've done. Merry Xmas and have a great 2015.
  5. Hi Rao I agree with everyone else. This is a truly impressive model. Surely not your first effort? If so, it's even more impressive. Well done.
  6. Hi everyone! I've been pretty crook the past few weeks, so, I haven't done much on Mystic. However, last night I was able to add some detail to the dinghy, thereby making it look more like a dinghy than it did before. I've also added the chocks to sit the dinghy on. I've started to sand the hull with wet and dry sandpaper, hence the patchy appearance of Mystic's hull. Next, I'll need to finish the mast and davit, anchor, windlass, painting, etc, etc. The dinghy will also be painted, as well. Hope you enjoy the photos!
  7. I can agree with Michael to a certain extent, however, I actually cherish the way that wood can vary from one piece to the next. To my mind, that's the beauty of wood-each little piece is different when viewed up close, yet blends in beautifully when viewed from afar. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly applaud you for wanting to redo the deck. Afterall, we must all pay heed to the little person sitting inside our hearts.
  8. Hi John I think Mark's right. Would be worth a try; rather than restarting all over again. Good luck!
  9. Hi Matija. Beautiful work. I especially love the shape of these boats. Fife and others of his ilk certainly knew how to build beautiful boats, that's for sure. She's certainly going to be a big model! Are you blessed with lots of room to display her at your home? All the best!
  10. "Short", but powerful. A picture really does speak louder than words. Thanks for loading that up for us. All the best!
  11. Ahh. Now I understand! But, "...we're just members" doesn't cut it. I can imagine it can be thankless task sometimes. Thanks for all the hard work that you and the other Mods put into making this a great website! Have a great Xmas!
  12. Very nice Mark! Off topic, though...I notice you're a Special Contributor now, whereas I thought you were a Moderator. Have you been promoted?
  13. Hi Piet It's nice to be back. I've been pretty sick (still have this week off work) and haven't been able to do much, including my models or following MSW much. Hopefully things are turning around now. Your dinghy is truly inspirational and a real study in perserverance and skill. Well done!
  14. Hi Alan. She's looking great! A true credit to your skill, workmanship and generosity. Beautiful!
  15. Hi Mark. I agree with everyone....it looks damn fine! In your case, the 'journey' and the 'destination' are definitely worthy of a big pat on the back! Well done.
  16. Hi Overdale. I've said it once, but, I'll say it again...."bloomimg marvellous". That's one beautiful model. Thanks for doing the build-log. This model needs to be shared by all. Well done.
  17. That's exactly what I thought as well, when i saw you hiding behind your IPad!!! Beautful model, too.
  18. No problem! Disasters are always only seconds away. What matters is that they're overcome. Great job you're doing, by the way, with the planking. She'll look great once done. All the best!
