Nice work! Getting everything on the deck finished is a big milestone! The bowsprit goes pretty quick in the Phantom, and before you know it you'll be finishing up rigging!

I think I figured out how to fix the problem. I will get some close ups too. Thanks for the comments!

Improve on you photoshop skills to strat with mate. Upside down pictures won't do

Some close-ups, from the hull too, would be nice. I want to be able to give you an honest opinion (even if you don't like what I have to say) I expect nothing less from you on my builds

I finished the fore deck. I was able to slow myself down, but I still have it finished. Next up is the bowsprit and bowsprit rigging. Most of the pieces on the fore deck just needed some painting and wire bending. Here are the images.

I don't know what is wrong with the upside down photos. Sorry! Until next time!

Nice progress Elijah and as the others have pointed out there's no need to rush and congratulations on the new baby brother.

Good decision re the cradle Mark,  a finished model cradle doesn't have to be as heavy as a build cradle, and I prefer them to the pedestal look.

What a thing of beauty this ship. If I could build a model ship like this....I would. But for now, am content just to watch modelers as skilled as you just to learn how.

    Great work, Mark.

Congrats on the milestone Mark. Can't wait to see her free of the jig!

As for the camera, sounds like you have an excuse to deploy HMS Visa into action again!

Minor milestone and then on to a major one....

Finished the centerline hatchways.   Done... Finito...  I still have much to do on this deck still, but that is all going on hold.  I'm pulling her off the jig and making a cradle.  I gave some serious thought to only using pedestals but my experience with them is "iffy"...  so something a bit substantial that will look nice and not detract from her lines is in order.

Meantime, here's the picture and I think I'm ready for either new batteries, a new memory card, or a new camera...  something is acting up here.

I am swamped with family projects at the moment so posts are a bit slow. as to work, I am struggling with dories. I just bought some brass to begin trimming out spars and several lines to start learning seizing for this large scale. I need to simulate steel shrouds.

I loved the build. They are really a bit big for display. I am working and learning to enjoy 1:24 scale and that would be about a foot. I hope to do that next year if I can ever make my dories for Bluenose.
    Cheers

I must admit to also being pretty pleased with how Shadow's turning out.  As I mentioned earlier on in this Log, there's actually been no major stuff ups, with her construction, so far.  Mmmmm, that's definitely not like me, as I'm usually more accustomed to more stuff-ups than positives, but, hey, I'm not complaining.

    Have a great week.

Thanks Carl. My initial choice was going to be red, but I thought that Shadow deserved something a bit more special. So, silver it was.

    No regrets, that's for sure!

Hi Bob - many thanks and yep, you're right, there's still a bucket load more to go. Thanks for the compliment!Hi Frank - many thanks. The selection of gold and silver paints was pretty risky to use because they're not very common, but I'm glad I've settled upon using them. You're right, also, about the black waterline. It'll really add a touch of class to the hull.
    All the best, guys!

    HI folks!

Thanks for all of your comments and Likes; which I enjoy very much.

Well, Shadow's journey continues. I've painted the underwater section of her hull a silver colour.  Why?  Because the real ship was built out of aluminium and I figured, that an aluminium looking under-hull would be fitting.  Besides, I have seen a few pictures of other mega yachts with silver coloured under-hulls and they looked stunning (well, to my eye, anyway).  Therefore, I'm kinda sticking with the current metallic colour scheme of gold above-water and silver underwater.  I'll add a black water-line later on.

I've also laid the individually planked wooden decks tonight.  They still require sanding and trimming, but hey, as with the whole model, there's still a bucket load more work to go!

I hope you enjoy the photos.

    Cheers
