  1. I inserted the belaying pins, using a piece of 1/16 thick basswood as a lower spacer. Then I used that same spacer to cut the tops off evenly. The glue won't show once rope coils are hung over them.
  2. Over the weekend, I painted and installed the wheel and binnacle. Then I cut 20 pieces of brass rod for the belaying pins.
  3. The obvious solution is debonder, but you would have to use it without letting it wick onto the edge of the plates. Another solution is abrasive (sandpaper) but that will leave a matte finish on the plates.
  4. I believe those lines ending in thimbles were used when hauling cargo on/off board. They would have hooked a block and tackle to them.
  5. I have always felt that for square masted ship models, the time is 1/2 on the woodwork and 1/2 on the rigging. What do you think?
  6. If you do end up with a stealer end floating between bulkheads, you can always put a sister plank under it.

  11. Regarding CA glue, it has a shelf life of 6-12 months at room temperature. You will notice that it starts to take longer to set. While accelerator helps, I find it better to just get a new bottle. Unopened glue will last a long time in the freezer. Nic
  12. So Bob, where in Maine are you?
  13. Yes, by all means start a build log. When you have finished, I will give you 10% off the next kit you buy from us! Nic
