  1. Morning all,  I have done a  chack  of things  still  to  do   -

    I still have the -

Wall to build that goes in front of the patio I just put down.
Extension to the wood store - side - front and roof, and raised up floor.
Work on building a graduated slope where the kitchen garden is - using layers of typing paper.
Fitting my Grass mat over this area.
Make and fit the hedge that goes from the stables to my extreme Right, level with the stables.
Purchase some more French 54th and 55th Line reg troops - paint weather - top coat then place these in the orchard.
Put some odds and ends like loose hats - muskets - backpacks etc scattered around.
Cut the French Cuirassiers off their bases and place the other side of the orchard hedge.
Place my pile of French casualties at the entrance to the Barn.
Finish off making my other single British Cavalry needs painting etc - then place him the other side of the garden hedge.
Place the Lunebourg division remnants in the garden along with a few 5th line KGL wounded.
Then make the trees and fit them in the courtyard.
Any any other bits of touching up where needed.

So yep quite a bit to do yet.

Photos like these show the relationship of the terrain with the structures and vegetation. Maps included in the various histories are good, but being able to see the entire picture really helps to understand a battle. I've been fortunate to be able to walk a number of ACW battles, such as Gettysburg, Antietam and Richmond/Petersburg. These gave me a much better appreciation of events like Pickett's Charge, the Sunken Road and the Crater. Thanks for showing these, OC.

    Your most welcome  Ken.

  3. Checking some  old photos  and  stuff  -  looks  like I have a   bit  of  rectification work  to  do  to  the  wood  stoor  at the  end of the  farmhouse  at the  front of the  stables,   as  it does not  protrude  enough  it needs about another Two scle feet adding to  it, it will also  need  a  new  front  and  tiled roof extension.

  4. Good work with  figures,   my  to  go  with  routine  is  -  Black  primer  (as it  works  good  for  shadow line detail)   faces and hands  with  any details  picked out  (depends on the  scale of  the figure)  then a  wash  with  high lights  picked out  and a  wee bit  of  slightly more  pink for  cheeks etc,   then  blocking in the  main colours then  fine details  like belts  and small details,   then when fully  dry  after  a  day or Two  a  wash over  the  main  body  then  fine details  picked out  -  like  over belts  etc.

Its  all  an illusion  of  shadows  and  high lights.

    Hope this  helps.

  5. I have been busy again today  -  firstly  by adding a wee bit more  weathering  to the  White  on the walls  and  tiled roof  (looked better)   but also   I have started the  cobbled path  that  goes from the  porch  to the  log store  near the stables,  in real life it was  about  5 feet  wide and  about  15 feet long,  I used a  piece of my  MDF type wood  measured  and  cut  it to shape,  then the fun bit  - measuring  for the  rows of stones, then marked  and  with  my sharp knife  I cut  the  rows, then I used  scribing tool  and  cut slightly  wider deeper  gaps.

Will  take pics  later after my phone has charged  up.

  6. I just want to add  -  that  I think the  porch  will  have  more  impact  and  blend  in  when  I  start  to do more  scenery  and  weather  some  of the  buildings  a bit more  to blend  it all  together  (I am  quietly  proud  of the  porch as  it was made  competley from scrap material  with no plans  -  just  bits  of wood  -  card  and paper).

  7. Evening all,    I am calling  the  porch  build  done  -  I tried  to do some  moss lichen type  thing  but the  sprinkles  I have are to  clumpy  and  didn't  look right  so  I left  it alone  with just a  wee bit  of dry brush  dusting,   the  figures are  not  fixed  just there  for  scale.
