  1. Hola a todos: Thanks for your words Ulises and Michael, and for all the likes. By the way Ulises, I didn´t see any new logins of your Royal Louis, Still very busy with your new house move? Saludos, Karl
  2. Hola VTWoods: I wish you good luck and many hours of fun, I'm about to finish my Pride of Baltimore II and almost took me a year in its construction. As always, there are unclear details in the plans and some materials are not very good (such as wood and rigging material, but all this awakens the imagination and makes the construction more fun. If I can help do not hesitate to ask. There are many people who are knowledgeable and eager to collaborate in this forum. Saludos Karl
  3. Hola: Almost reaching the end. Now I've put the running and stern lights, the lifeline stanchions and railing as well as the small swivel guns and a pair of life rings. What remains to finish is the construction of the cradle or building-ways, and finally a case to protect the model. Saludos, Karl
  4. After some vacations I continued with my boat work. Now with the foremast rigging. It was actually slower than I thought at first because of the large amount of rigging to place (and I did not put the sails on!!). To give a different and more interesting touch tilt the yards a bit. This also allows me to make the case a bit narrower. Here some pic´s:
  5. Hola Steve: You say that it's hard for you to bend the planks even with dry heat. Have you tried to bend the planks after soaking them in water and once dry, glue them in place? Saludos Karl
  6. Hola Bob: The shield and lettering was a great challenge but as you can see in my post #23 (Oct 21, 2016) I resolved it making the lettering with the computer and with a little try and error obtained the correct size. For the shield I got a drawing from google, print it to the correct size and glue it over a previously made wood piece: I attached you this drawing: Saludos, Karl
  7. Hola Don: Now I am working slower due to the weather (here we have some days over 110 F outdoors) and we will also leave on vacation for a few weeks so the launch of the POB will take some time. What will be the next project? I have to think about it because the commander tells me that there is no space in the house for more boats. I think I'll have to change my hobby, hahaha. Saludos, Karl
  8. Hola Frankie: The kit lacked blocks, some pieces of metal and many more details, besides the threads for rigging are quite bad, however fake "diamond" skylights were included. Saludos, Karl
  9. Hola a todos: After almost a month I have new updates. One important decision was to put or not to put the sails, and finally I decided that this will be my first model ship with no sails and present the ship as if it were on a dry dock or cradle. However I decided to place most of the rigging except those that hold the sails. Here you can see the rigging of the main mast finished. Next step, the Foremast rigging. Saludos, Karl
  10. Thanks Joachim for your fast response. In your model the fly net sees perfect but I am afraid the size for my ship is a little small, and unfortunately here you can get only one size of fly nets. Saludos, Karl
  11. Hola Joachim, just catching your log, and the only thing I can say is that it is truly amazing, wirklich schön!! Seeing your pictures (Bild 19) I want to ask how you made or where do yo get the nets located at the bowsprit. Saludos, Karl
  12. Hola Michael: I am sure your sails will be outstanding!! Saludos, Karl
  13. Hola Ulises: I hope everything goes well with the move and you enjoy your new house in which you can put all your boats as a museum Saludos, Karl
  14. Hola Steve, Bob and Michael: It is really nice to hear your compliments, specially from model experts like you. I appreciate them very much. Saludos, Karl
  15. Hola: After a 3 week trip and a lazy work I finished the stays and other little things of my model. Here some pictures: Saludos, Karl
  16. Hola Michael: Fortunate of you that have the facilities to ask for help. If you find an "expert" that can sew your sails I am sure they will be as good and nice as all your building, and in any case, if you are not satisfied with the results you can omit the sails. Saludos y Suerte!! Karl
  17. Hola Michael: For doing that specific reinforcement I use a specific knobs on the sewing machine, (I don´t know its name but here are a picture of them) The thing is to play previously to attain the desire appearance Saludos, Karl
  18. Hola Michael: Sure, if I can help you in anyway don´t doubt to ask. All the stitches were made with my wife sewing machine after marking previously the lines. About your specific question, for that sail i didn´t put any reinforcement, but I put it at the foremast lower sail. (picture) I took several pictures of the sails and don´t remember which of them I sent it to you, please tell me if you want any in particular. Saludos, Karl
  19. Hola Michael: Your details looks very nice!! Saludos, Karl
  20. You are right Ulises, comparing with my last ship Vasa (around 900 knots!!) this was nothing. Now I will do the stays. Saludos, Karl
  21. Hola Marsalv: ASTONISHING!!!! What is the size of the stove? What kind and/or size of micro-tools did you use to obtain those screw heads and the other little parts? INCREIBLE!! Saludos, Karl
