  1. good evening Sjors, redo became my middle name when I started this build, but IMO they normally look slightly better, hope to get the flying jib rebuilt this weekend hope you are both well
  2. ED You make it all look so easy, I could spend all day making a cleat (and no where as good as yours), its the 2nd third and multiples thereafter that I have followed this build from the start and continually amazed by your work
  3. before I started building the Victory, I doubt I would have understood half of the transcript, even though I was in the RN for 30+ years (submarines) what a fascinating script of events
  4. Good evening everyone more progress, on a bit of a roll at present, all the ratlines are now completed,as well as all of the backstays, but was not happy with some of the upper stays so at present they are being re-done, newt week, I am hoping to make another flying Jib
  5. Good evening everyone the mizzen lower ratlines are now completed, awaiting new 2.5mm dead eyes to do the top, also more back stays on the main are now in awaiting a final fit position, the flying jib remains broken sorry but since two weeks ago some of my picture turn 90 deg
  6. I have left the damage, as is Decided to go aft and complete the Mizzen mast, which I hope to have completed in the next week, the advantage, is that I have another 6 to 8 inches to move the lump around,
  7. I made the decision to do the ratlines prior to the cleats, presently looking as to where the cleats are fitted, The last thing i wanted was for them to be in the way of the spacing
  8. not the answer you are looking for, but i use c/a and then use a diluted mat black paint over any any marks,
  9. spent quite a lot of time tieing off the loose ends after ensuring they were taught enough, turn the build around and DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM, snapped the Jib boom, tried to repair but unable to as all the lines attached will not allow me to get a decent repair, so am going to leave it for now, Went to the other end and now working on the mizzen mast, presently fitting the futtock shrouds there is a big moral story to all this, but dont want to admit that it was a big mistake doing the bow area out of sequence
  10. wonderful work, an inspiration to all that want to do better (like me)
  11. what a brilliant lunch break, catching up on your fantastic build a few questions how long to completion will you do any weathering on her what will happen to her when completed
  12. dont know if you have seen this (will delete if you have) http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/13930-a-tour-of-hms-victory-from-vhs-tape-1993/

  14. Someone might be interested
  15. Sorry i am late to the party, and you are so far into the build, but I have brought popcorn, enough for everyone, can I stay and watch please, lovely build
  16. Good afternoon everyone I completed the fore mast standing Riggiing, and now onto the Mainmast, quite windy outside, but managed a few shots and its great for blowing the dust off
  17. Good evening everyone, took me ages to find my own thread, after nearly two ,months away again Anyway, i have completed the netting around the boomkins, and happy with them but i have now resolved where I think the lines go wrt the 6 lines that come from above the round house and pass through the thimbles on the spirit sail yard My big question now is WHEN DO I START TO TIE EVERYTHING OFF AND SECURE THEM? Sorry about picture quality, and my mancave is a tip
  18. Rich, as mentioned in a previous post, no doors are supplied, but I remember a group discussion a couple of years back, that no one is 100% sure that they existed in the first place at the time of Trafalgar, mine are currently open whilst I decide what to do with them
  19. Brilliant, the link is full of fantastic photo's
  20. just love the deck planking, much better than my painting one edge and one end, well done
