  1. Good morning Richard I dont have all the answers yet, i have a band saw, scroll saw, bench sander, wood lathe, proxxon saw table and drill press i also have a thicknesser but is to big to do this work (i believe) and has metal blades (damaged) i await Mr Brynes for a shipping cost of his thicknesser to the UK (even if it was to arrive tomorrow it is NOT going to be opened before Chritmas) - LOL the wood I purchased is mainly 2"x 2"x 24" so i am going to see what i can do with what i have available
  2. silly question time what glue to stick the templates to the timber i have never heard of this glue which is quoted in the Assembling frames tutorial- is this copydex quote" Cut paper-form glued on the timber, here components for different double frames, so marking with the number of the frame is important in order not to mix them. You see also the special glue ( a rubber cement "Fixo Gum" by Marabu) I used which is possible to remove afterwards without any rests on the surface of the wood! (Highly recommended glue and many thanks to Jim who sent me this tube ) "
  3. Lawrence, I need to do this, lol I need to say - I tried, Victory will be back, in fact she is not being moved of the work bench, I will be setting up my original shed for the job hope to start the rigging before the end of the year
  4. Is it the porthole I have to pass through to the scratch build world
  5. LOL - come next Monday, everything will be back to normal, I will have used up all my wood, by converting it to sawdust, all my blades will be blunt or broken, and I will throw the whole idea of doing scratch out of the window, and I will have a brynes sander on the way that will never be used seriously though - I am looking forward to it, a break from the Victory wont hurt me
  6. thankyou everyone for the comments, very much appreciated the victory build is going on hold for a little while, several reasons why, but the main one is that, I like to think ahead, in this case the HMS Druid build, to that end I am going to try a little project to see if I have the skill to take on that challenge so for a while my posts will be on the Section Triton build
  7. good morning Gil lovely work is the wood pad fitted to the hull or to the anchor where the fluke butts up against the hull
  8. i contacted Jim Brynes tonight wrt to the i await his reply for the shipping costs to the UK i have also included the drawplate
  9. well i made a start, a few days away from making sawdust though 1x cherry planking 2x pear framing 1x sycamore-don't know what for (forgotten) 1x maple decking also bought a chuck for my lathe, was fed up not being able to centre the lumber and a couple of proxxon blades for the fet i may purchase the brynes sander for crimbo
  10. lovely work, 36 sails to make for mine, if you have the time -lol
  11. lol - accident or deliberate, I am NOT copying this
  12. good afternoon photo of the hull steps ladder, maybe they would have looked better in hemp and possibly fitted to the steps rather than the side, but for know that's where they are
  13. the reason i bought it was because at the time i was doing to do the Triton build, but then as now doubted my abilities to do such a project, hence the 1/72 Victory came into my life so i never used it
  14. I bought this about 3 years ago, and have only just operated it for the first time, is it adequate to do a semi scratch build, or do i rearly need a brynes saw
  15. between dafi Grant and Gil, i will never finish mine either
  16. Hello Dafi hope you dont mind I borrowed a photo and posted it in my log of the rope ladders from page 54, i will remove if you mind
  17. After the excitement recently of my announced next build, its back to the Victory, although no pictures tonight, Dafi is to blame for having to go back to the the hull side steps to put the Ropes in Daffi build http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/76-hms-victory-by-dafi-to-victory-and-beyond/page-54
