    One scratch build I had wanted to attempt was the 1/24 bomb vessel Grando mid section - but they don't do the plans any more, after that I got more and more confused as to what to go for next, so talked my self out of it, especially when it came to purchases of milling machines idealy 1/24 with cabin details (not so much cannons would have suited me down to the ground), but was unable to find anything adapting a kit I donr think would have worked, lol - everyone must think I don't know what I want

    at a guess I am now 1/2 way through my build, and thoroughly enjoying it again although I have noticed that I have failed to port by total time time taken, will resolve that this weekend (approx. 1200 hours) hope to be finished about this time next year the big decision on my next build has been taken, my decision not to go to scratch boiled down to not having the skills, and did not want to get disillusioned on attempting to do something out of my skill sets I have no intention to buy immediately, me and mutli projects end in me doing nothing (I spend to much time wondering what bit to do next) USF Confederacy is the build of choice

    good afternoon day off work today, with intentions of progressing the hammock netting, progress was slow but i am getting the hang of it now, i tried wire, but the brass didnt work for me, so i reverted to 0.5 black thread and cotton

    Hammock netting good evening everyone this is definitely one of those (i can do better) sessions, lol it took me ages to find a systrm to secure the netting to the hammock cranes, but the photo's make it look pretty - well yuck, one i find a way that works for me - no doubt it will be done in a fraction of the time and hopefully look a lot neater this is one side of the port poop deck

    good evening everyone One very dusty looking build, lol you dont see the dust in the daylight Foredeck cannonades completed and rigged, still finish of the loose end and create coils flag locker, now has some simulated flags in place, but look a bit bright, in fact they look like rolled up card, which is exactly what they are hammock cranes being put in,

    Good morning Peter I don't remember ever having to lower any of my gunport openings on the inboard or outboard i tried and failed to line the openings prior to planking, the sills all went in at a later date, long after the wales were set into place, as these gave me the best indication that everything was in the right place i found putting the cills in prior to planking difficult, as you then had to match the planking ends up to the template cut-outs not the cills , also gave a better finish to paint personally i found it easier the other way around, ie planking then remove the cut-outs, a simple home made jig allowed the cills to be put in with the 1mm recess But putting blocks on the inboard side to rest the cills on was a good idea

    sorry Gil I will remove if you are not happy me answering your question Sjors , for rigging the light wind sails (stuns) or studding , These boons swing away from the hull to allow the deployment of the cloths on the spars on the end of the main and foremast spars (Page 49 in my log)

    Congratulations, im well on my way to taking 19 years to complete mine and still will not 1/2 as good as your build

    unless you want them to look pristine you don't need to varnish them, you might (just might) find it to bright in the long term
